Since I am not satisfied with the Contis, I ordered TTrack 2 last week.

Today I had a flat tire about 1,5 hours away from home! The tire is completely destroyed. I remember some discussion here that a spare wheel isn't necessary...

So I learned a lot today:

1. A spare wheel is only necessary if you have a flat tire. Then it's very helpful! If this had happened to me on a longer trip - e.g. in Norway - it would surely have meant a lot of time and inconvenience if I had no spare wheel.

2. I had bought a tool for the central nut of the wheels, because I didn't trust the original tool and the hammer in the car. My "new tool" works very well when changing wheels on the road.

3. I am happy with the ali tooltray I bought, because it helps me to store all the tools I used today.

4. I thought that wirewheels from 2005 could be used tubeless. My wheels had tubes inside and the rim seems not to be a tubless one.

I'm sorry to hear this tale of woe bm I was always a little worried during my 20,000mls in my Sport that this would happen.

Sorry for this incident.

My 2005 wire wheels are tubeless, there is a glued seal all around the rim. A great care has to be taken when changing the tyres. The seal must not be skinned. A friend found the day after 2 flat tyres after having his tyres changed...seals skinned.

What kind of tool for the central nut do you use?

I dont know if puncture repair spray is compliant with the seal?

Some tyres are puncture proof tyre, like Contiseal design... (without connection with Conti).

If only.... The trad would have been so much more desirable with a removable blank rear panel allowing any configuration. It would have been so easy!

@CBY

I used a spinner tool from this EBAY seller.

Here an other advice from this seller: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MG-Triumph-Octagonal-Wheel-Spinner-Knock-Off-Tool-Socket-Wrench/113018140628?hash=item1a5067f7d4:g:ubIAAOSwjXRXYwpA

I have read that some TM members use it too.
I also used a Sliding tee bar (about 50cm long) and one of my feet innocent

I´ll let change all tires to the new TTack2 next month, than I´ll have a clother look to the rims. They seem to be sealed, but also need to have a double hump.

These guys seem to make nice tools:

For octogonal nuts, two-eared spinners, three-eared spinners. Might be a bit pricey, though.

I had a puncture a few months back and went to Paul Harris (advert in Mog) who isn't too far from me.

It turned out my rims are tubeless with all silicon applied but with inner tubes fitted.

On closer inspection there was a yellow label inside the rim stating that tubes must be fitted.

Paul and I deduced that there must have been a change in rules at some point requiring this batch of rims to require tubes.

I also had a look at this tools! But they are nearly three times expensive. So I bought british because the shipping costs where not higher than the prince for the tool. This may change after the brexit.

And as I wrote the material and the making is very good as I had to test yesterday. evil
