Tesla man has got the axe swinging in an attempt to turn a profit after 15 years of not doing so, watch this space I think he would be delighted to sell it off to one of the large global VM's.

I think the large VM’s will probably wait for it to go bust

Still loosing $6,500 a minute

Paying the interest off the large debt will cripple them, investors nervous, share price shortened by a quarter

I don’t think it looks good

Maybe Trump will step in and keep it going to save jobs and quality American manufacturing and technology with government money

Then again if he can post even the slightest operating profit in the next year, it will soar in value and investors will pile in

That's the sort of game I imagine him to be playing and then sell it off as a complete battery manufacturing unit and cars to a major.

He normally does the unpredictable so I'm not holding my breath - I like his style though.

With all of the major car manufacturers now snapping at his heels, i am not sure the future is too bright for Tesla

It does make you wonder I hope he doesn't get burnt, he was exceptionally brave in producing the first desirable long distance all electric cruiser.

Just worked out that cutting 3,000 middle management jobs will save approximately $300 a minute

So will still be loosing $6,200 a minute

Mmm - might not be enough

Stewart you have been busy, as a matter of interest Tesla together with a Dutch design/build company have released a shooting brake Tesla on the standard Tesla shaped front end.

The conversion adds a cool £80,000 cost to the car, I saw pictures on FB earlier and if I can find them will post on here. The pictures were taken outside the Dutch Embassy in London village.

I was tempted to go for a Tesla as my new company car as they are totally offsetable against corporation tax but I just couldn’t take the plunge

I’ve driven to Milton Keynes and back every week for the last month and the thought of having to plan the journey and stopping to recharge on long business trips when I just want to get back as soon as I can to avoid the hold ups at rush hour periods would drive me nuts

Plus to get the corporation tax offset you have to shell out to buy the car in the first place and it seemed a lot to take out of our working capital in one chunk when all our current vehicles are on lease hire on 3 + 35 deals

So I went incredibly boring and have just ordered another car exactly like the one I’m in at the moment which I’ve never ever done before

I must be getting really really boring

I’ve even gone for the same colour inside and out

That is a big chunk of money to pay upfront for the long term benefit I understand that ok, I hadn't realised all the benefits of running one I have to say but my last company car was 18 years ago now.

When you have a Morgan of your stature I don't think you need to worry too much really you know, it is a very individual car and striking in the best of ways.

I used to call my company car my toolbox as it was essential to the job but not exciting in any way.

Here is a link to the shooting brake. I think these will sell well in limited numbers here to the County Set with a pair of colour coded Hunters chucked in for good measure.

And the other version.

I too considered a Tesla as a business user. The financial side of it stacked up for me (in particular, zero company car tax here in France) sadly the fact that the car was too wide for my parking spaces at work made it a non starter for me.

I'm baffled by your remark about lease hire. Can you not get a lease deal on a Tesla ? I lease my cars through my local bank at very competitive rates (my SLC was at 1,35%apr IIRC) with an option to buy at the end. They don't seem to care what car it is, so long as I can afford to make the payments.

I wish Tesla well, and hope that they weather this storm.

I don’t forensically look at the costs of a Tesla on contract hire but as I understood it, on lease hire, as the company doesn’t actually own it it didn’t get any corporation tax offset

It just saved me personally company car tax because of the CO2 emmisions

Whereas compared to a BMW520 on lease hire the costs of the Tesla where over double so it was expensive for the company without the benefits

My personal company car tax is manageable as on top of a salary I also take dividends

I didn’t want the business to take out loans to buy depreciating vehicles as my company operates totally in the black and I hate banks
