A friend of mine (traffic motorway policeman) had that car on the M1. It had an extraordinary police sign folded flat on the parcel shelf. He would drive next to a (say) porsche, get the challenge accepted, then pull in front, reach down and pull a lever (like our rear easyup catch) which pulled a cable which lifted the Police, Pull over sign.
He seemed to think it was great fun. The problem with the car was that it couldn't hold all the emergency stuff they needed to carry for accidents etc.
Long time ago, different world.
Nick

It's been restored now with all the Police stuff and occasionally turns up at shows.

When I was a youngster I had a x police MGA 1600.It used to work the South Glamorgan A roads. Officers always had crash helmets and no hood. Had the car for twelve years untill it nearly rusted away after years of rallying and grass autocrossing. Sorry now for the abuse I gave it. But it was a great fun car.

TR4's were very successful rally cars in the early sixties and are still very capable today.

Yep they are heavy, however a tuned (ol grey fergie) 4 pot, on webers will make a rock solid 130BHP.
