Maybe just a straw in the wind but received an email from our local Aston dealer offering a brand new ex stock vanquish s at £237 k. I would have thought anyone in the market for a car like that would want to spec it up themselves. I'm any case can the dealer afford to carry speculative stock at that price level or the factory to finance building for stock.

From what has been said on here Morgan are doing the same as are lotus..Discounts must be available. And second hand prices will follow.

Don't know about the dealer or factory being able to afford the stock - what about the end user? What will the hit be in depreciation? And all the petrol wasted looking for a parking space big/safe enough.

Just to sit in a line of traffic behind nissan SUVs and Ford fiestas looking for a clear road for a chance to overtake without a speed camera. Then, at the next hold up just along the road, the fiesta driver catches up and sits there all smug thinking "what a knob". Unless its Daniel Craig my wife sayes in which case, its fine and super cool.

But Aston drivers don't look like 007 do they? Look more like x-Jaguar owners who have come into some cash! More Clarkson than Craig really. Pop-bellied, grey haired and opinionated ....do you get the picture?

Such a shame i can't afford a new Vanquish S?? Not at all - I actually think a VW UP Gti would be more fun anyway and i can afford one of those! Got a email offering me £500 off one as well!

Just think of all the Millions of pounds the UK motorist loses in depreciation every week - let alone the finance payments on top.

Better buy a Morgan then!

And all Morgan drivers have huge beards, like real ale and look down on anyone who dares to drive with the hood up. Look more like Worzel Gummmidge than Craig.

Not so fast, 2015 high spec plus 4, offered 6k less than I bought it for 6 months ago from Morgan dealer today and a part ex price against a 2012 plus 8 3 k less than I bought it for six months ago. I think only the old Morgan’s are bomb proof. These newer ones seem same as any other car. He said market was very slow on new ones and it takes months to shift units in the second hand market.

Sitting tight whilst I catch my breath!

Brand new Morgans won’t be exempt from initial depreciation as there’s the dealer margin and VAT to take off but this can be offset slightly by the warranty and new tyres etc. Once that hit has been taken though they should follow the depreciation path of all Morgans.

Yawnerama! Hang up your anoraks and stop worrying about such nonsense.
Pistonheads is the forum for endless debates about depreciation and what’s super, classic or otherwise.

A Morgan isn’t a sound financial investment, but I can make more money.

It is a good place to invest my time and I can’t make more of that.
