The weekend after the Albert Ball do which our organiser, Red Leader, Chris99 is in charge of is the Vintage Revival at Montlhery just south of Paris.
Some of us booked for the Albert Ball jolly are planning that on Monday 6th May we leave Bruges and head towards Montlhery with a two or three night stopover on the way. Maybe even catch the train into Paris one day. So that we can firm up these ideas I need an idea who is up for this. I can sort hotels if you want for us and it is advisable we book the Montlhery hotel ASAP. Maria and I have already entered our 1934 SuperSports for the track events and been accepted at stage one, if we get through the final checks and are in then am happy to give some of you a blast on the banked track. There is a dedicated Morgan parking area within the circuit where we will all park and although M3W's are not eligible there is a good chance of a parade lap on the sunday.Express your interest here initially, this weekend we are away in the M3W for a Norway Tour with a small group of other M3W's and will get in touch on our return.

Vinmog have already organised a major trip for this event for their members. I expect Quentin will be along in a minute to brief you on his progress.

Having said that I understand that the tip is currently fully booked and you will be placed on a waiting list.

Great to know that you 3 Wheeler folk are also making a big do of this, we very much look forward to meeting up (and perhaps sharing a track drive or two?)

Hi Guys, thanks for the interest,
Looks like we have a good little group of Morgan Three wheelers Yes I am aware of Quentins VinMoggers group and know Quentin well. He told me a few weeks ago they were fully booked.
Quentin is like me highly capable of even organising a piss up in a Brewery.
Their hotel is somewhat away from Montlhery When we have been before we stay a mile or two away from the circuit and hope to do the same again. Montlhery is a fab event not to be missed. Will get straight on to it when back from Norway. Just loading the M3W up, so many spares I wonder where we are going to sit !

Yes, I had a good chat with Ian a few weeks ago.

The VinMog hotel is a little further from the circuit than the one he will use, though only ten minutes away - but has some advantages, included excellent evening meals, including the Saturday one that is a gala, with entertainment and dancing until 02h00 (for those with stamina). It is also 'vin compris au volonte' which was very popular last year.

The booking position for the VinMog group is not 100% clear.

They have eighty hotel rooms, and a month or so ago eighty people had completed the 'expression of interest' form at www.vinmog.fr.

At that time 52 had made firm bookings (that is with deposits). The rest all received 'final notices' requesting a commitment by the end of this month.

So far six have made a commitment and another eight have dropped out - which took care of the first eight on the waiting list.

We will probably give a couple of day's grace to the remaining fourteen - but if they have not committed by the end of next week the rooms being held for them will be allocated to the waiting list, with priority going to members in the order of their requests.

At the event we expect that VinMNog and MCdF will share a marquee (as they did last year). The facilities in the marquee for members to enjoy will include a decent quantity of wine from close to the VinMog head office in Provence.

Incidentally there has been some confusion about the event. One commercial company is claiming that Morgan is the 'Marque à l’Honneur.

But if they had looked at: http://www.vintage-revival.fr/?page_id=31 they would have seen:

La Marque à l’Honneur « Autos » sera ALFA-ROMEO

But this particular Company has a strange idea about the event. A friend sent me a mail-shot he had received from them which stated that at the end of the event:

You will be able to walk all around the ramparts and look down over Angouleme and surrounding countryside.

Quentin

The hotel booked by Quentin is about 5 miles north of the circuit on the N20. This is the road from Orleans to Paris.
Last year we had the delight of witnessing two Edwardian aero-engined specials, being taken off their trailers in the hotel car park. All stubby exhausts and flames!
They then drove them in convoy to the circuit.

These things normally work by you copying and pasting the list from Ricardos post and you add your name to the bottom, hope that helps thumbs

Thanks Ricardo,
The others still named on the list I would like confirmation of intention to come. I must assume you will all be at The Albert Ball run in Bruges and have booked the hotel in Bruges up to departure on Sunday 5th.
This means that once we have layed the wreath at Albert's grave we need somewhere to stay on the Sunday and during the week before we arrive at Montlhery. I am proposing a stay in a hotel close to Historic Laon for a few days ( lots of places to visit in the area) before moving on to Montlhery.
I have been talking to our good friend Quentin of VinMog. Their original hotel let them down badly, they now have a new hotel planned and there are several rooms put aside for our group to join VinMog for the weekend, if we wish. I am planning we arrive at Montlhery a day early so we can do a group visit to Paris ( on the train) leaving the Mogs for a rest.
Look forward to your responses. Ian

If all the above is of interest let me know and I will firm things up. The Vintage revival at Montlhery is a fab event that should not be missed.

I had thought of other options such as taking the 4/4, but with my domestic situation I can't justify this trip so soon after NZ.

Am very pleased to report that our application to take part in the track events on the Sat and Sun have been accepted, we got confirmation on Xmas eve. So we shall be in our 1934 MX4 Supersport.
You will need a helmet if you want to come out and have a blast.
Really looking forward to blasting round this track again.
The hotel that we normally stay at has been block booked by another group, so when I found my alternative was also the one chosen by VinMog I decided to go with that. I have spoken with Quentin at VinMog and he is keeping some rooms for us. Several have dropped out ,due to the NZ trip and other reasons, so I shall be contacting who I believe to still be interested via your personal e-mail. If you do not hear from me by Friday this week I may have missed you, GET IN TOUCH ASAP either viaTM or privately
As we shall be at The Albert Ball do the weekend before, I plan that after the Sunday afternoon meal and the majority set off for home, we shall head for Laon for a few days. Lots of interesting places to visit in that area before getting to the hotel at Montlhery for the Thurs evening. Please keep an eye out for further info soon

Hi folks,

I can't come to Albert Ball (we were there for the first meeting in 2016) but I think I will drive from Cologne to Montlhery (I am member of the french Morgan Club) and I found a cheap Hotel a few miles north of the circuit from friday evening to monday morning (it is possible to cancel this). As I have some time in this week before Montlhery, I am interested to meet the group on their way going south, so please send me the Dates / Hotels you will book before arriving Montlhery.

Hi Waldermar,

Ian Parkinson (chocadoodledoo) is arranging the bit after the Albert Ball and the plan is for those staying on for Monthlery to head off to Laon on Sun 5th May for a couple of days.

Hi Waldemar
We separate from the others on Sunday 5th May, they head for home and we go to Hotel Du Tramway, 02000 Laon France for Sunday and Monday nights.
We leave Laon Tues morning and go to Ibis Hotel, 18 Rue Edouard Branty, Zac De Mercieres, 60200 Compiegne France for Tues, Wed and Thurs nights. During the Compiegne stay we shall visit local sights and one day take the train into Paris.
We leave Compiegne Friday morning and drive to the hotel being used by VinMog ( French Expats Group) about 20 mins drive from Montlhery Circuit. We are part of the VinMog group for the weekend.

Hi Ian,
hi Achim,

I also want to come to Montlhery. I will start in Wiesbaden and I booked the Comfort Hotel Linas in Montlhery from 10-13 Mai. Where will you stay these days?
Ian, will you come with your 5 or 3 Speeder ?

Rgds

Hi Marcus,
There was only one of my Mogs that I could even think of bringing to Montlhery. We are DRIVING our 1934 Matchless Supersport as we always do from Somerset to Folkestone then Bruges for the Albert Ball do then meandering with a few five speeders down to Montlhery for Friday. Our entry to drive on track was accepted at Xmas time so we shall be having fun on the track over the weekend. We are staying with the VinMog group, as members we know many of them and it will be great to catch up with them even if they are four wheeler owners ! Their hotel is about 20 mins from the circuit. If you had asked before I am sure you could have got in to our hotel. the problem with the one you are staying at is where do you eat in the evening ?? We found that out in the past.
Contact me at home if you wish to talk about it.

We'll be there in our 4W 6speeder, as it's a bit far for the F Super & I don't have a trailer, looking forward to seeing all the classic & vintage stuff again
