A nice un sophisticated honest car. There are better engineered European and Japanese cars, but I think they have charisma by the bucket load.

I have only ever seen one original Mustang , and that was in the Henry Ford museum at in Michigan

It was small , neat , well styled , and had just a hint of a tough performing sports car. The models that followed were all putting on more metal , more weight, and losing power due to emissions controls.

The modern one has just enough of the spirit of the original to be appealing, and that V8 soundtrack is very additive. OK it may be a tad less sophisticated than many European sports cars , and not entirely optimised for European driving, but for driver appeal it wins hands down , and it is available in some rather nice colours. I would buy on win a flash if I needed to replace my +8 with a fixed head coupe I could still enjoy driving.

There remains a rawness about these new Mustangs that I find very appealing compared to EuroJap boxes, could be easily tempted into one especially as I have family discount available.

Can't be living without the V8 sound for sure so who knows when I'll be tempted, maybe when I can no longer get in and out the Plus 8.

My son moved to California to go to Uni last year and needed a car. Price wise a Mustang was just a bit more than a Fiesta, so a complete no brainer to one who can justify just about anything with man maths.

Survived his first year intact which is more than I would have done at his age.

We did 3,400 miles in a Stang on Route 66 in 2017. A great car for US roads

I just went onto Dodge (Hellcat), Chevy (Camaro) and Ford sites.

If you spec the V8 as a base point (no V6 or IL4 engines) you can still have something nice for $45k and prettied up for $52k. Last year I got a Camaro V8 as a rental from SFO and it surprised me how good overall it handled as well.

Now when it rained the tyres may not have been close to the struggle but what the heck I need to adapt to that not the car.

Just time to burn a little more petrol before dinner.

In 2015 we had a 3.7 V6 Mustang driving an Indian Summer tour in the north east of US and last year, a 4Zyl Turbo visiting Washington State and Oregon. A very good car made for American roads. Both were totally reliable and enjoying during the time of rent.

I did 3500 miles in a Camaro 6.2L back in 2015. California and Nevada. Roof down the whole trip except for the torrential rain in Death Valley. Big heavy car, but a blast to drive. I'd love a Hellcat.

The lack of sophistication compared to European cars could be a good thing?
Takes the car back towards “real” driving without computerised gadgetry to rely on. A bit like a Morgan.
