I've been looking at this again and comparing it with the one that Stewart found a couple of years ago of Thames Television's Drive In programme - see: Morgan in 1975

I thought it interesting that both items were made in 1975 but looking closer I see more similarities.

The Thames Television programme was broadcast on 21st August 1975

The BBC ran the Nationwide item the evening before!

Nationwide, as I'm sure many will recall, was a magazine type programme similar to today's One Show. I have no doubt that the BBC prepared their item to get in ahead of ITV's scheduled broadcast the following night. Having said that, the Drive In report is more detailed.

(As an aside, I don't recall seeing either programme at the time but by sheer fluke I know exactly what I was doing when Nationwide was broadcast. I was in the pub with the rest of my family celebrating my parents' 20th wedding anniversary!)

Fabulous Ian. My first visit to the factory was in 1980 and that's just how I remember it.

+1 - great bit of film Ian. Not sure about the two year waiting list though, I placed an order directly on the Works in 1976 for a Plus 8 and took delivery of it in July 1982! doh

Fascinating stuff. Interesting that Morgan price rises are nothing new - in the film the presenters says that the 4/4 was £2.5k. 10 years later the cost was way up, my 4/4 cost around £8k.

Don’t forget there were very high inflation rates in the 70’s

We have been in a comparibly low inflation rate era since the early 90’s

The Drive-In report ( here ) has an interview with the sales manager Derek Day who gives the prices more accurately as
4/4 2-seater £2392
4/4 4-seater £2597
+8 £3375

Both programmes state there is "a two-year waiting list", but perhaps it was longer for the +8?

Absolutely. Just checking the price list for 1 November 1980 when my car was delivered, and the prices had gone up to:

4/4 2-seater £6210
4/4 4-seater £6883
+8 £8970

That's a 250% increase in five years.
