Please forgive me Reg hide the devil himself forced me to post it..

So Classic Car fans, what are your thoughts on the news that Jaguar are going to put the new electric E-type into production and it will be available in 2020.
An icon reborn?

I guess it was one of these at that ASBO wedding earlier in the year in Windsor goodnight

It's going to be very interesting where they position this in the market - will they be rubbing shoulders with the Kalashnikov I wonder stirpot.

I'll bet a load of them go stateside if they get them road legal.

Jaguar are getting around the new car rules by using old cars and restoring them and at the same time converting to electric. As was the blue wedding car which a lot of us saw at the revival.

Thanks for that I hadn't realised, I missed it at Revival. This must be upsetting a lot of folk that the straight sixes are being removed I would have thought.

I can see a lot of these on the boulevards in California though.

The original E type bodywork generated lift at speed, which explains why quite a number were written off fairly early on.

Iconic, well the shape may be, but it needs that 6 cylnder XK engine.

Practical? well perhaps as much as a Morgan.

Sensible, well not in my opinion.

Interesting that Jaguar/Landrover have just announced the creation of a "rebuild facility" in Savannah Georgia to provide "services" to the north american market. Maybe theres electric XKE's and Series 1's in our future!!!

So presumably the new James Bond Astons use a new shell etc. as they can’t be used on the road?
I wouldn’t want an electric E type anyway, as with the M3W the joy is in the noise, engine, vibrations etc.!

It begs the question though on what they will do with all those straight sixes & gearboxes.

Whats to stop MCC buying up trads and electrifying their performance rather than the power plant.

As painfully as it is to look at the picture of my one time dream, if this is what it is coming to then rather than have nothing, I guess I would go electric and perhaps put a few fag packets in the spokes like we used to when we were kids.

Here for a good time not a long time!!

Mixed thoughts here.
A true classic icon spoiled.
Or...
An inevitable change to meet today’s trends.
Or
I can so I will. Makes me look eco-cool with style.

A couple of years ago I was washing the Mog on the drive. A car stopped and the driver shouted over...
Nice car.
All electric, converted.
I was confused but as he pulled away just a whining sound. He had converted from ice to battery. The car? Renault 4! No other details and not seen it since.

Given that they'll cost in excess of £400k I doubt they'll be anything more than a niche product.
