New forum member and new owner. My Roadster is on it's way from Malvern to San Francisco (one of the first of the 2018 USA cars). It will be the daily driver for 100 miles a day. By coincidence went for the factory trip on vacation back in the UK and while being guided along the red path, there was my build number! A rolling chassis, engine and everything! A genuine tearful moment, "driver meets newborn car". Next problem is getting insured in the US, AAA doesn't want to know. That and thinking up a suitable 7 letter registration that hasn't already been taken. Doubtless more posts when she arrives.

Welcome to TM, please send photos.
Have you tried Hagerty? They are familiar with Morgans.

Welcome from London Audioman.

I lived SF on my one and only visit in the 80s.

Some nice driving roads in the Bay Area I seem to remember.

Hope the Roadster arrives soon and proves a great involving drive for your daily drive.

As others have said, welcome to the madness of TM. I hope your new car is all you hoped for, I do envy your ability to do the coast road down to LA in it, what a drive that will be.
I did it in a Firebird years ago and have never forgotten it.

Hi Audioman
I have used Grundy Worldwide. Cheaper than Hagerty when insuring a +8 in the USA.

+1 - exciting times and we do look forward to hearing more! Incidentally Chubb also know about Morgan’s having provided insurance services both to the company and also to some owners.

Thanks for the good wishes everyone! Well the car has arrived at Morgan West in LA and now they're doing all the required stuff - putting the engine back in and making a few changes required by typos in communication between the dealer and the factory. About to start the insurance hunt, thanks to all those who made suggestions, I'll tell you how it comes out.

Very exciting. That would be my ideal to order a car and visit the factory while it is being built. Just perfect. Can’t think of a better motoring experience than touring the CA coast In a Morgan.

I emailed the San Francisco dealer. They say the car arrives as a rolling chassis, still built to your specs, and they install the drivetrain here in the states. That must be all about emissions and tariffs I would guess.

2.0 litre and 3.7 litre engines are manufactured in USA - all the COO (Country of Origin) labels I've seen (on those engines) are marked USA.

The first few cars built for the USA market had their engines / gearboxes fitted for the assembly process, then subsequently removed. Now they are assembled without fitting, but as far as I can see MMC ship the engine/gearbox along with the car for dealer fitting. "Replica" rules?
