Yes this is very bad news. No doubt the scandal press will make it all about Brexit blah blah blah. If there was ever a demonstration of where Diesel made sense it is in the big wagons these guys produce.

I feel really sorry for them they like us have been totally screwed over the diesel issue by our own Government not the EU or Brexit.

In a cynical mode.....did the likes of JLR lobby politicians a few years ago to promote diesel to massage mpg results?
Short term political smoke and mirrors with the inevitable U-turn?
I was a diesel convert when my commuting mileage went up. Back to petrol now.

They don't help themselves mind. The cars are still woefully unreliable (well the Land Rover stuff is anyway)

Then there is the cost of them. We went to buy a Land Rover Disco Sport to replace my run-out Freelander, but it was a fortune and surprisingly compromised. A tiny fuel tank meant the towing range was extremely limited. Then the ad-blue tank needed a dealer re-set every time it was filled.

As for practicality, we didn't want 5 seats, but we did want a full size spare and a tow bar. That was, from memory, £3,400 extra for the pair.

I wanted to like the Evoke I bought.
It looked fantastic, was quick enough and went round corners surprisingly well.
But it was woefully unreliable, three significant problems in 12 months, a cracked screen on delivery, one recovery home.
Dealer support was terrible...

The Sat Nav made my old TomTom look good and for some reason it was the first car I've ever owned in which I couldn't find a comfortable seating position.

So it went....along with a big loss.

Sorry JLR, your progress is impressive, but there isn't a car you offer I'd buy.

I am on my 3rd Range Rover now as they have been the most reliable car I have ever had and is a very easy place to be to do about 30-40,000 miles per year.

My most unreliable (based on time the car has been unavailable due to break downs) have been Porsche 991.2, Mercedes Benz E class and Lexus RX400.

Probably not the results you would expect.
