It's a wet & autumnal evening here tonight, but I managed to get across to this years Sywell Classic event earlier. This is a two day event and used to be known as the "Pistons & Props", but I'd guess that as many other events have used the name, they've changed theirs. It was always going to be wet at the end of the day according to the forecast, but it started a bit earlier than anyone thought, and a few speed things were postponed for safety reasons, but the few that did get running were great. The few brave souls who flew down the runway in V8 single seat Indy cars running on slicks very much deserved the audiences applause when they returned..! Anyhoo, as pics speak louder than words here's a few. I'll start with a Cannon like all great events.. (See what I did there..?) This mighty Allard was a real cutie when it went out..! A brace of radial valve Rudge's looking lovely.. The real deal.. Now, I spotted this in the background & thought this was very cool..!! More shortly..

Elvis was there looking slightly the worse for wear over the years.. It was time for action before too long.. Smoking always was bad for you..! The driver must have been on 40 a day.. Look carefully at this one. See the air under that nearside front of the Pop as it twists with full torque..!! The guy in the background covering his ears give a clue as to the volume.. The rain was falling by now, so everyone covered up.. Thankfully, a drop of rain didn't stop the aircraft. This is the twin seater Spit that I often see from my garden.. Closely followed by this lady.. Lovely display.. This is their new house now. One of two built especially on the airfield perimeter. Continued..

Some car park shots: This a rare beastie.. Don't ever moan at your roof again.. MX-5 Prototype..? There are replicas, and then.. "C" or "D"..? Kit or genuine..? Stuttgart presence.. Or maybe you don't need a roof..?? A Guzzi engined, 2CV chassied Pembleton.. Continued..

Some track action again.. It was pretty wet by now.. That Allard again. You can tell I was smitten...it's slightly out of focus.. Supposedly going to be started & run up, the rain put paid to it I'm afraid. Shame, this would have been superb.. Everyone's favourite.. And speaking of favourites.. I was quite surprised the Lancaster attended, given the deteriorating weather but I'm so glad it did. Very stirring stuff.. Overall, a nice event as always despite the rain. If anyone's going tomorrow, it's £22 cash to get in as the card machines don't work for some obscure reason. Oh, and take a brolly for the morning..

Lovely photos Steve. Can I give you a list of all the events that I can’t get to and you can do similar coverage? 😂
