From my hoodframe the plate with the retaining clip (at the front rail to the windscreen) is broken off at the weld seam.

I remember that someone also had this problem.
But I didn't find the posting anymore.

My question:
Does the everflex have to be removed from the rail for TIG welding?

Both of mine have failed. Take out the rubber seal in the header rail and then remove the wood screws. The rail will then separate from the hood.

See here.

It is simple. Pull off the rubber seal & unscrew it as Ken says.

I had the welder add weld to the non broken side also . MMC don't use enough in my opinion.

I then fitted a new seal.

Hello and thank you to all!

I´ll do it as you suggested.
I´ll try to use the old seal again, I did change the seal last year, so I try to use it again.

Today I repaired my front hoodframe.
The main problem was to get out the 11 Phillips screws. Their heads where filled with the window glue from Teroson, that was used by the garage to fix the sealing.

On the way to my welder I bought new ssteel Torx screws so most of the work is done.

I noticed there's a plastic frame, not wood, under the stainless steel windowframe so I ripped off a screw head. A little bit of oil was very helpfull to fix the ssteelframe to the plasticframe under the hoodmaterial.

By the way, because I was looking for the best glue to use on the former used window glue I had a chat with the servicedepartment from Henkel. I was astonished how helpfull they are! I got an reply on a German holiday!
