Closes it's doors on the 5th November so if any of you want a last or first look now is maybe the time.

Shame that, I assume Jonathan Palmer doesn't want it as part of the circuit acquisition

Very sad. However, without a visionary driving it forwards, perhaps this is better than a long lingering dusty death?

When I met SBM there last month, the cafe was closed and it had an air of neglect. Such a shame.

Never been to the museum.
Guess I'd better get there soon!

The heady days were late seventies before the circuit was surfaced.

I was there the day before my first date with MrsW......

Last time we went it was smaller and felt neglected.

Such a shame, I hope the collection will be rehoused elsewhere en bloc, e.g. Beaulieu, rather than auctioned off.

Last time I went was in 1995 and I thought it was well worth the visit.
It's a shame but if visitor numbers have fallen and there's no vision to get them back, then its best to close it.

I don't necessarily agree, it could be better for individual cars to go to owners who will appreciate and use them.

For instance, David Purley's LEC Refrigeration F1 car was liberated from the collection a few years ago and now competes at historic events. I think most people would much prefer to see (hear and smell) cars like that on the track than sitting static in a shed.

It may not be possible for all, but there is a huge resurgence of classic top end formula cars racing again, and whilst we all love looking at cars close up, to walk through a pit area and listen to them running is the icing on the cake..

Fingers crossed, anyway.

The three uniformed 'curators' leaning disinterestedly on the entrance desk when I met Mr W up there indicated the writing was on the wall, and the fact the cafe adjacent to the place had shut it's doors at the start of the year makes me think there is a building/ownership agenda behind the changes, perhaps.

Mind you, the cafe area inside the circuit was new and very nice. It even had one of the Wragg single seater Austin Sevens next to the tables to look at..!

I hope the cars find loving owners that know how to recommision them.
