Just got back and the newspaper we picked up this morning lay on the rear seats . Just read it Bloodhound has run out of money and is up for sale 250.000. Sad I have been watching speed records since I was a child. So near yet so far.

That is sad John, I read on the Bluebird site last month that they were appealing for backers as they had run out of money for the attempt. Lets hope they can save this ambitious project.

Bloodhound needs £25M..

Sad as it is I can't help feeling that this is just a little out of touch with the real world and the future of wheeled transport. No technological gains for any would be sponsors as such.

They were doing a brilliant job engaging the younger generation into studying the sciences during their voyage which will leave a void.

I was dreading the day someone risked life and limb inside that thing. As an ROV I suppose any record would not be valid. There is an element of macho-man defying the odds of getting out alive imh... ooo o. gloomy

There is the human safety element of course being the most important one, who knows maybe it has spared some brave soul.

The BBC describe it as a car...kinda stretching the definition of “car”!

No MOT, no tax, nowhere to put passengers, luggage… can’t fill up at a petrol station, and that nose looks a bit vulnerable to sleeping policemen :slightly_smiling_face:

You are correct about interesting young people in science etc. I went to an exhibition where they had a really good mock up of Bloodhound and the place was full of wide eyed youngsters, shame it's now over but, as others have said, it is really not of any benefit to anyone if you can go overland at 1000mph plus.
