As others have said - join the MSCC with the monthly club mag Miscellany, you will find dealers & private ads therein. Also it will give you access to local centres.

It may sound crazy but the car picks you . Get yourself about try many even if you have to shoot away and have a few B&B's its worth it. a narrow body 4/4 with a 2L engine is great fun as it has chuckability . So try them out . There is a mog club you can contact Hop Mog Centre Sec. Paul Knight

07753 744647 . So give him a call and get yourselves along to a meeting they will tell you everything you wish to know and more .

Good Luck drive Brands Hatch Morgans on your door step go and ask if you can drive one or they take you out for a spin PHIL or KEITH nice lads .

Welcome from West Wales.
Don’t worry too much about owning a Morgan. You grow into it....the bug bites.
Go and test drive some.
When (you will, you know that..) you get one you will easily adapt.
Make sure your other half/Satnav/smiling passenger gets a good new wardrobe of weatherproof suitable clothes. Wind/rain/cold. Warm weather options too.She will enjoy the shopping opportunity.
Go to your local club noggins.
Condition of the car is the key. Properly looked after by an enthusiast or garage ( dealer or good mechanic) and you won’t go wrong.
Above all use the car. Miles = smiles.
Just to add....be prepared for people asking about the car, photographing it, it can add time to a run out!

Hi Bonsie

This 4/4 Zetec looks tidy, in your upper price range though, it’s not far from me either.

Hi Bonsie,

What you're looking for is exactly the parameters I set myself with the plan that as time and inclination allowed I would enjoy upgrading as an engineering project.

For £25,000 you can easily get started and I would really look at the Zetec engined 4/4.

You can get a +4 for that money but it will be an older model and crucially IMHO you want to go for a post 98 model car which has long doors and the stainless steel scuttle and inner wings. The steering also changed from steering box to rack and pinion about this time so ask that question as well.

By the way, Morgan model years are a bit nebulous at times so ask the questions about the spec and don't just assume that a particular model year has XYZ specification.

Sure the 4/4 is a bit down on power compared to the +4 but you can easily bring the Zetec up to and beyond that power level with some tuning mods and then you will know it's your car.

I started with the suspension, then replaced the ECU so I don't have worries in that area and it allows further tuning.

BTW cars around this era may not have OBD2 or EOBD, I think 2001 was the beginning in Europe but Morgan can sometimes lag a bit. So again, if that's important for you, ASK.

I've just finished gas flowing the head and fitted new camshafts.

My enjoyment is developing the car and the 4/4 Zetec long door with all the stainless steel is a great place to start if you have a sub £25,000 budget.

As I've said on here before, it depends what you want to do with the car.

There is also a very good book written by a TM contributor called Dave Wellings. Title, Buying and Maintaining a Modern Traditional Morgan.

He's probably a bit too shy to plug his own book.

I meant to say there is a great buyers guide in exactly what to look for from a dealers perspective from Alon Whites in the back of Morgan Four Owners Workshop and Manual, if you don't want to buy one get it out of the library ISBN 11-855-20656-0 it's a good read and covers from 1936 - 1981 not much changes with Morgan's.

Welcome from Belgium.

In August 2015 we bought our 1993 +4 T16 with 46k miles at Brands Hatch Morgans. It was offered at £ 19,500 but we got it for £ 16,000 because it was in need of a bit of TLC. Up till now I've changed the rear shock absorbers, installed sun visors, a Librands manifold and a wind deflector and changed the leather steering wheel to a wooden one.
BTW I am 6Ft3 and have no problem in the %organ.

I'm sure you will find the Morgan of your dreams (We did!).

Welcome!

On number 5, we've taken our Plus 4, which has standard suspension, down to Angouleme twice now. And ok it's not as comfy as the volvo, but it was perfectly doable, and you get the bonus of the French folk going mad over it! It is certainly lots more comfortable than both my mates' lotus elise and TR4a.

My better half does find the seat a bit narrow... cushions help and she is now trying an inflatable lumbar support to see if that is a more elegant solution.

Some great stuff here, thanks folks.
I will have a whizz down to Brands hatch Morgan early in the new year.

What do people find dealers add on with compared to a private seller, 2, 3 k ? Its more reassuring to buy from a dealer I guess but generally do dealer cars come with 6 month warranty etc much like a 'normal' dealers ? or is this an add on. I suppose it depend on age and price etc.
