Do your doors stay open once opened? laugh2

An odd question perhaps, but mine don't and after a bit of research it seems that they should.. but nobody is certain.

Thanks fellow TM'ers! cheers

NO they don't !!

I reckon Morgan have a contract with the local A & E as the doors are ideally placed to gauge a lump out of your shin ooo

I did investigate the Librands door stay a while back.Peter J has them on his car I believe , but I don't think they will retro fit the S1 confused2

They are a bit on the pricey side to buy on the off-chance they could be made to fit - but if 'someone' were to act as guinea pig......... somestick

Have a good Christmas all wine

I remember asking this question when I had mine a few years ago. I was told either.
1. Man up
2. Get shin pads.
3. Get a classic you wimp.

I wimped out and bought a +4 getcoat

They don't stay open. The technique is get left leg in the car & bum on seat. Prod the door to swing further open with right hand, rapidly get right leg into car in time to catch door on the rebound before it slams shut breaking the door window in the process - these are Morgans, would we have it any other way?

Agree with all the comments, and the technique with the door prod, trying to fold yourself in without breaking windows is also one I employ (not helped that I am nearly 6ft 5!) laugh2

I enquired about a more elegant solution at my dealer who spoke to Librands as part of their investigation into various options, it was they who confirmed that the reason the stays they sell do not fit is the layout of the S1 doors - i.e. it already has a bar that should do that, so they suggested it was either broken or needed rectifying.

Shooter if you do have any pictures or info on how yours stay open, that would be great. cheers

Bad news! I was getting them mixed up. The GTN doors open really wide but don't stay open. The S5 doors stay open!

I think the point at which the doors were made flat to the body (Max/S4 onwards) they installed a larger central hinge which did have opening detents and sharp edges which end up cutting the cables if you are not careful.

Hello all

I was told that on the S1 Aero, like on a Classic Morgan, you know when your doors are properly hung and adjusted if when let go, fully open (and car is level), they close!

Merry Xmas

A bit of useless information but during mid to late production on the series1 Charles got a wet leg so they fitted the very thin rain channel to the wing panel where the door meets, our car is the wet leg version. Getting in and out is a bit of a faff especially with my wife's dodgy knee but hey ho were all getting older Volvos post is spot on.

Sorry Nick i don't but its probably less than a quarter of an inch wide and runs down just in front of the door to the sill very subtle you would never notice. I mentioned the ingress of water years ago to Mark leddington and that was one of the upgrades together with the consertina crap roof.

The Gtn might have it Nick but there again when i took one out on demo it still had two pools of water on the flat inside leather bit of the door threshhold.

You must have the rain channel Alistair on the series 2. But clearly water still gets in.

The Plus 8 has that strip of beading, as do, I think, all recent trads...

There are many different inside door panel's as well Nick with about five different roof's on the series 1 alone. It's always good to have a walk round when you see another.

I have looked at many but not seen (or noticed most likely!) that drainage hole.

Interior door panels I have seen two types, the most common one with the flat/straight wood beam and the curved type which seems to be a very early one and like the prototype style - this seems to be the rarest version I have seen.
Mine is quite an early car and has the straight styled card.

Roofs are a mine field, I dread to think how many sub-variants there are of the roof types..

My first one had the flap around the door like a trad which i much prefer and stooped water ingress unless you were marching on a bit. But i do like the gangster roof which you cant tuck down flat behind the seat's and keeps the line of the car looking nice. Glass window of course.

On the second photo (blue car) there is beading on the leading edge of the door; is this attached to the door or the bodywork?

Also, still a bit confused here, are we saying that there is a gap/channel running the length of the door and between the wing and the body tub to allow water away?

On mine , there is body coloured beading in that position.....

The channel in front of the door near the hinges is attached to the bodywork James.

The beading is also fitted to trads. It comes from the bodyshop slotted inside the door panel and I believe it's glued, maybe after the body is mounted on the chassis. I'll check my build photos.

Personally, I would say it would be too much of a faff for minimal benefit. Ensuring the seal at the front edge of the door ( that closes onto the scuttle) is plump and in place would be of more benefit. Sticking a very thin neoprene strip on the scuttle so the doorseal closes on it would be best IMHO.

Is it just a shadow on the red one but it looks like it has another channel following the a-pillar across to the top of the bonnet?
