That car used to belong to a SwanMogger. Nice motor and know it well.

Must be one of the very last of that model of 4 seater

I’d like to see how the turbo fits under the bonnet

Thanks Stewart - it's a bit of a plumbers nightmare but as you say it all fits in and cereal knows the car so it's a good recommend I would say for anyone in the market for one.

The last owner spent a long time getting the turbo to spin up nice and smoothly and to fine tune the fueling working closely with Omex and Northampton Motorsport.

This car has been for sale at RTCC for quite some time now, the current owner is a member of Oxmog, and I believe it’s being sold on a commission basis.

Do you know why he's selling it?

Nick, to answer your question

I sold the 4/4 to Thornes in July, I had a couple of similar offers from dealers and the Thornes were the most convenient to us

Reason for selling was a sort of 'in retirement plan'. I decided to buy a Plus 4 for long term ownership, SWMBO wouldn't let me have three Morgans, so one had to go. Again guided by my better half, who has grown (over many years) to love our +8, the 4/4 was the chosen sacrifice.

The story of the 4/4 was that it was ordered from BHM by a lady solicitor, who then cancelled the order at the point of delivery, and it found a home in Braintree. About a year later the owner had the turbo installed by Chas Windridge. 5 years ago, on a rainy day, I was up at Melvyns to buy a bracket for the +8 exhaust and came away with the 4/4. Subsequent to that I spent some time to tidy up the installation and improve the fueling. The 4/4 basically drives as any 4/4 until 3,000 rpm, which equates to 70 mph in 5th. As you squeeze the throttle the turbo comes in gently, if you are more enthusiastic with the throttle, you do get a kick in the back and it resembles a scalded cat going down the road. The turbo is a 1 inch Garett with up to 0.5 bar of boost. I got in the region of 40 mpg. We have taken the 4/4 to Europe, IOM, and around the UK without any trouble.

The body and mechanicals were good, interior much as new. Before the Thornes purchased it they had it checked out by Owen Developments who passed it as good for compression, performance, and remarked that it was a good installation.

With the 4/4 there was a full set of documents of all MOTs, service records, rolling road reports, and invoices for the car and additional items including the turbo fitment.

My personal opinion is that the asking price was originally a bit on the high side, maybe that put buyers off, the current price is more in keeping with my thoughts on pricing, but I have seen similar models advertised at higher prices (although they may not have sold at that price), and Morgan asking prices can often vary wildly for the same model, spec, and condition.

Chas Windridge was fairly prolific with turbo installations, you may remeber that at one point Peter Mulberry was co-resident with Chas. I did speak with Chas on a number of occasions, but he did suffer with poor health and I think he sort of retired.

To save confusion, I am joint centre sec of Swanmog, and active with Oxmog, so both answers are correct.

Not sure if it answers your question, let me know if I missed something.

Thanks for the info Mike. I'll pass it all on to my friend who wants to go look at it.
Thanks again,

I hope that Richard Thorne meant scaring Roadsters and Plus 8's rather than scarring. Generally when you scar another car yours gets damaged as well.
