Remember that Ferrari deliberately control the number of new cars released among the public in order to maintain market control. Who said rigging markets was illegal? I suspect that they could do quite a few more if they tried.
McLaren have done a great job coming into such a refined market at that pace. It shows that focus and engineering skills still have a place. When you look at others that have tried, Koooonigggseeeggss, Pagani etc. They have great products as well but have not gained McLarens broad market acceptance.
It also shows the lower cost models sell well. If you can afford a Sausage GT3xxx then you can be sitting in an equally impressive (but different) McLaren 5x0 model.
