It's bollocks, I've been in Athens all week. There was about half a millimetre of snow on Monday night which had gone by mid-morning Tuesday. I couldn't believe the stuff they printed in the English press.

Why would the UK media show anything that is more than 30 miles from London.

Here in Northern Italy we have a drought. We have had no rain, and no snow for weeks - nothing but boring cloudless blue skies and unending strong wind.

There was some snow on the Alps to the north of us the other night but nothing south of the Alps, until you get further south that is, even Sicily has had some snow.

There is snow up on the Stelvio though laugh

I do love a picture with snow in it. Lady H not so keen as me. She particularly hates it when I encourage us to go driving or skiing in said snow. I’m sure on occasions, when in Tremezzo looking across past Bellagio and presumably towards Lario we can often see hints of snow at the top of the mountains even in the summer. Or is that just the light/ colour of the rock? Only been past that area on the train to Varenna several times but never stopped to check or look close up.
Nice picture

It could be small patches of snow left in the valleys that don't get sunshine. Some of the high peaks in this region have micro glaciers where the snow from successive seasons and surface thaw packs down to form an ice filled valley.

The mountain behind our town has a cave that has ice all the year round. It used to be mined for ice to send to Milan before the industrial production of ice was possible. It is said to have been visited by Leonardo da Vinci. Some have likened the mountains in the background of the Mona Lisa to those behind Lecco.

Than come over to our place.

We have got plenty of snow with plenty of salt - bad for the woodwork:(

Today there will be rain with warm winds-that does not sound good.

No not me. Just a photo I found on the internet. Actually it looks to me as though it may be a young woman in the photo.

Impressive amount of snow must be a pain to clear.

Another sunny day in Northern Italy.

I went to take the sails off the boat to wash them and get a minor repair done.

I found the primulas out on a patch of grass near the club. The silly things think it is spring time. I'm not surprised actually it seemed like a fine spring day to me too.
