Yikes wink

Well given the previous discussion about reduction in the numbers of road traffic police cars with real thinking policepeople aboard I guess it is no surprise to find more cameras being used.

The new so called Yellow Vulture is with us if you listen to the interwebisphere.
Don't use your phone, eat food, smoke, touch yourself (sorry I meant your phone) near these.

Also the M3/M25 smart motorway is apparently now being set to take your selfies above 72mph. Now I know why they call it smart. It is smarter at generating revenue!

Is it defo the M3? Not trying to doubt you at all but I had a WhatsApp from a good friend yesterday saying M1/M25? I know both have been in a permanent state of roadworks recently but as I use the M1 fairly often that’s more of a (selfish) worry!
Thanks
HB

re the smart motorway stuff.

A person I know from the local Basingstoke taxi company had a chat with the M3 traffic police about it apparently. He was warned they were turning the screws. Could be PR but it's worth mentioning as out of hours it is a nice clear road. If doubt it will have any effect or be able to reduce the permanent conga dance going on in lane 4 of course.

The smart bit I refer to is the newly rebuilt section from M3 southbound until just short of Fleet Jun 4a. The M4 around Newbury/Reading is being upgraded shortly and I suspect it will be the same.

My new tin top has a speed limiter which I find very useful in built-up areas. It's all to easy to speed up without noticing in modern cars.

Totally agree, I was "Done" for doing 35mph whilst driving along a totally clear road in lovely weather hurting nobody.

Over regulation of speed causes severe bunching. We now do a lot of travelling on the section from M18J1 to M1J28(A38).

Traffic is appalling, even when people should be at work, and basically it turns into four lanes doing 60-65, with a lot of tailgating, especially in lane 4.

I don't see any way to improve this except maybe keeping HGVs out of lane 3...(it's a four lane stretch).

That's the conga I was talking about as well Dave.

I understood that the lower speed/higher density model had been proven as more effective?

Reg,
fortunately you didn't hurt anybody but a little known or appreciated fact, if a child had appeared from nowhere and you had been unfortunate enough to have collided with it and it had died you would be looking at death by careless simply because you were over the speed limit. Food for thought.
