Interesting that a lot of the original paintings that went on the military Airfix kit boxes in the 60’s and 70’s (Mainly by Roy Cross) had the violence depicted in them removed later on

Explosions and bombs and fire were removed

So the violence in the new Typhoon painting (or is it a computer render) is quite unusual for a kit box

Brilliant painting but almost too much reality.... and I think it's been mentioned on TM before but don't forget the project to return a Typhoon to the air nearly 70 years after the last one flew. I'm referring to the WWII Typhoon, not the Eurofighter..

Yes Graham commented it was almost photo quality - it is amazing.

Alistair flagged the Typhoon project up a while back Kerry his Dad used to fly them. A great project.

I’m pretty sure it’s a computer render

Airfix box art is always a painting: the originals were by Roy Cross.

More recently I think they are all computer art, generated from the CAD data used to produce the tooling, rather than brush painted.
The Typhoon is a bit over detailed, a real typhoon doesn't have such pronounced surface detail.
This IWM colour photo taken from Wiki shows the real thing.

Much less surface detail is visible.
As a maker of aircraft models I have a real issue with models that have been over surface detailed. My view is that the model should look as the real thing would look if viewed from a distance so that they appear the same size.

This is a view of a Meteor, undergoing restoration. Compared with the Typhoon box art almost no panel or other surface detail is visible....

The 4 red lugs are all that hold the rear fuselage to the centre section and wings...!

I've obsessed about ww2 aircraft all my life and never before have I seen the cannons on a Typhoon painted yellow. I assume this is based on a real Typhoon, so there you go.

I've almost read my Christmas book, Allied jet killers of Ww2, and that has been an amazing read, based on the combat reports of the time.

One one daylight raid there were over 1300 bombers, 900 allied fighters escorting, and 50 Me262s were in the air.

Imagine how that would have looked.

For those following RB396 (Rich). There is also some nice content on Fuzzbook around Manston Airfield and the Typhoon.

Richard thanks for the reminder, and Alastair I've probably mentioned it before but The Big Show by French pilot Pierre Clostermann is a terrific read about flying the Typhoon in WW2. He also flew Spitfires and Tempest. Highly recommended. Everything I've read about the Typhoon tells me that those who flew them were brave and skilled beyond anything I can comprehend.
