While I don't have a Porsche like itch to own one, I am finding myself increasingly drawn to the XJS when I come across them at classic events - finding it's lines are improving with age.

One of the fastest appreciating cars recently (up 28% in 2018) so Maybe it's time has come.

Any ex Steed's who have dabbled with the big cat?

A few years back the XJS was littering garages with rotten sills and ready for scrap yards , at least some engines were rescued to go into kit cars and other Jags !

I've had 3 Jaguars in the past and loved all three. Smooth as silk and effortless never ending power. As long at it is not the V12 you can do most of the maintenance yourself and the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club is a goldmine of information.
Bit thirsty though, that is the only draw back I'd say.

They were very nice to drive if you uprated the shockers. The last 3.6 seemed the best balanced. I had use of a mid term V12 and a later 3.6 and the later 3.6 drove better and was not really slower. The IL6 had a nice hum to it but would never be quite as creamy as the V12.
Just time to burn a little more petrol before dinner.

I had an XJ12. Sadly an early carb version. Could never get the Strombergs to work properly though leading to dissaponting fuel consumption. When it was running properly I remember watching the speedo swiftly pass 100 mph and just continue climbing in near silence.

Also ran out of fuel late one night on the M4 with an empty starboard tank despite a full port one. One end of the the double SU fuel pump had packed up. Quick bit of re-plumbing in the boot whilst on the hard shoulder had me going again though.

The later 4ltr convertibles are the ones to go for. The prices for these are going up very fast although there is a sub group who favour the pre HE V12 as there aren't many left and we all know how the prices for the last of the initially less popular cars go. Look at the flat floor, outside locking E Type or the Alfa Duetto both silly money now.
What price a Hillman Avenger Tiger and when did you last see one, or want to for that matter!!
Here for a good time not a long time!!
