We drove the Roadster to BHM and paid our deposit for a new 110 Plus Four. There is no build date info yet but the dye is cast. We have ordered it in Black with Suede Green leather, black weather equipment and alloy wheels in silver.
We are looking at substituting an oil pressure guage for the clock and have asked for brake reaction bars to be fitted too along with double tread rubbers.
We are having a think about a luggage rack and I must ask about an ally rad to be fitted as BHM had to replace ours whilst they we fitting the roll bar (of which they have made a splendid job) because rough cobbles in Arras caused the top spigot to crack. There is news of an improved manifold being developed. We would definitely want that. Lots to think about: excitement and nervousness in equal measure. BHM as always are so helpful and make really good tea.

Ian

There is something very special about speccing a Morgan to your very own personal choices, great to hear to that you are going down this route.

Agreed that partnering with BHM will enhance the process. I would very strongly recommend an alloy radiator, the standard "plastic" items seems have enjoyed rather too "mixed" a reputation to be ignored.

Enjoy every minute of it.

Colour scheme unusual so be interesting to see pics when done. Personally speaking, I would find a clock much more useful than an oil pressure gauge!

Funny I would much prefer the oil gauge...to a clock...as I have one of those on my wrist.

I love to know what the engine "doing"... innocent

Assuming I am "on duty" - tour schedules are quite light at this time of year.
I will PM you so that you have an easy way to pass on your order/build number. On the blue bar near the top you will see a flashing red icon next to "My Stuff". Just click on it to take you to your PM lists.

Thank you all for your good wishes. Andy we will ask for an aluminium radiator and Graham once we have a build number I will post it. We are too far away to see it in build. Stewart this is no five but not all at the same time. We will keep both the Plus Four and the Roadster for a while after all we are unlikely to lose money on them. My wife thinks that the Roadster is an animal and she thouroughly enjoyed driving back from Calais except for Paris which was nuts and drivers are sometimes off their heads although others were very appreciative of a morgan. We have opted this time for a leather motolita and were surprised that door pockets were not standard but I suppose that its not something I ever thought about. We never have a problem with rhd here but this one will be lhd. Thanks again all.

Well done - go for the ally rad - much better and keeps the engine cooler in my experience - go for the oil gauge - Europaspares do a very nice stick on clock for about £30 which matches most Morgan dials - and then you can decide where to stick it at a later date - if you get my drift.

Them very nice clocks (Chronos) at £30 are absolute rubbish IMO, I’m on my 3rd one now and they stop working after a few days, I thought it was the battery at first. They match ok, but no good for time keeping😬

Great to see, I too just press the order button with Allon White's for a new Plus 4. The 110 offer + Phil's easy sales chat had me hooked. I'm in the process of ticking boxes for extras but wasn't aware of the alloy radiator so thanks for the information. Any idea of the price at build?

All very confusing what extras are must have but these threads have been very enlightening - Thank you

Me too. Mine was intermittent. Following battery change, it never worked again. Since bought a Smiths for £60 and fitted into the dash and it’s bang on.

By the way, does anyone have a good photo of the performance seats and can say whether they sit on wooden spacers or direct to the floor. When we had a run out in a GDI recently ( non perf seats) it seemed that we sat quite high up.
Thank you.

Unless it's changed the performance seats bolt to the floor.

And the bolt tail which juts out and presses into the carpet isn't in the same place as the standard seats.

My ARP4 has the perforated 'performance' seats which originally just bolted to the floor, I very quickly made up some tapered spacers to both lift the seat at the rear but to give more slope from the front, which suited me perfectly. An easy job, but you may need some longer bolts, especially at the front depending on how high you want it.

BTW, the performance seats have a slightly 'fuller' headrest, but it still comes nowhere near the back of the head, in fact I have removed mine completely as it is virtually useless as a safety aid and just gets in the way of access to the well behind the seats.

Apparently the factory will not fit an Ali radiator in build so we will just have to wait till it breaks😀We are working on a better manifold though. I am not sure at this stage what the final price will be pre export

Had our Ali radiator fitted at the first service after the warranty expired. I could not face the thought of it breaking half way round a touring holiday.

I believe Cain’s Morgan (Wolf Performance) still has the factory radiator, 9 years old with 100,000 miles on the clock

I changed mine to the Sifab radiator just before the warranty expired.

The factory radiator on Stanley was replaced at 35,000 miles after 12 years.
It had started to weep slightly at the bottom seam.
It could have been repaired, but I fancied a shiny Mulfab aluminium replacement.

I think the most problematic radiators were from early 2000 to around 2009
Too brittle plastic that didn’t flex with the Mog

I think we have had several threads on this and someone will remember the dates of the troublesome ones

That’s odd, I wonder if it changed in late 2005 as Andy Chandlers 2005 Roadster 4 Seater had the plastic tank one which failed

Yep, proper brass & copper soldered construction, with decent gauge metals, as they are serious weight if you take one out.

Mine was 14 yrs old and still good as new, I think a proper flush through and new antifreeze every 2-3 yrs helps lifespan
