Afternoon all,

Is there a DAB aerial/antenna available that will fit behind the dash (i.e. with the stereo and all the wiring gubbins) without needing to be routed somewhere?

I ask as most antenna I have seen are screen mounted which won't work with the heating elements, and I don't want anything visible from the inside ideally. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If not I shall use the DAB radio app on my phone via Bluetooth instead cheers

Do you have an FM/AM car aerial used in conjunction with FM/DAB radio?

If so there are various splitters on the market which offer an amplified DAB aerial signal. Power for this can come from radio itself depending on model or the main radio 12 volt feed.

Thanks Richard.

I have a main FM/AM aerial from the Aero, the Headunit is an Alpine and has two inputs, FM/AM and DAB.

I am off to Halfords now to pickup another adaptor, whilst there I will see if they have anything suitable as I am not entirely sure which one is best.

eBay are a good source for these adaptors. I bought mine in advance of Sony radio which required an external 12 volt feed (powered aerial feed on radio loom is useful supply).

Later found there was a dedicated Sony adaptor available which the radio could power itself if so configured on setup menu. Just ensured this was turned off and had it wired as suggested above. All wiring hidden of course.

One caveat - ensure the adaptor is pre-wired with plug to match DAB aerial connector on radio - there are two or three variants although tiny aerial adaptors are available.

Thanks Richard,

Just searching on Amazon now as Halfords don't do them.
Trying to work out the correct one is a minefield though as I have no idea what the relevant dab connectors are called, or whether or not the Aero has an "amplified" aerial?

Edit Reason: Autocorrect - is not correct!

Someone posted about the 12V splitter on this forum only a few weeks ago

I’ll try and find the link

I had an alpine head unit fitted to mine, the standard leccy aerial was used for dab reception as well as AM / FM, all worked fine

Nick, have forgotten the names of likely connectors but one is a push fit to radio and the other a small screw thread. I had to buy a tiny adaptor as my lead came with screw type.

BTW the DAB amplifier is within the splitter and nothing to do with OE Aero fit.

Thanks Stewart!
Do you happen to know which of the 5 listed below is correct? Ideally I was hoping for one that is powered from the head unit as I believe you can get?

Thanks Richard, good to know I can adapt if necessary!
