I was speaking to someone today about the new CX chassis as they did not understand how the new Plus6 was anything other than an engine change. They raised an interesting opportunity I had not considered.

Morgan could open a new line of business selling the rolling chassis to all of the companies like Lister who are producing tiny volumes of special models. With the tuning capability of the BMW engine it could offer a decent revenue? A bit like the old days of carrozzeria.

Yes that was a sadly stillborn event wasn’t it 😟

A great idea though to share the chassis. Out of interest is it still being made by Radshape or is the Lotus chassis company in Worcester involved?

Brian (Aeroman) said that it definitely isn’t made by Radshape so I assume it’s Lotus

From what I hear , the new architecture is much more suited to a road car, when compared to the old Aero chassis , which was based on race car principles. If this is the case (and my informant is very knowledgable) then I could see other limited production road car manufacturers being interested but not companies like Lister who are after the track-day/race car market.

I am told that servicing will be much easier, no longer a need to unbolt wings, much more access around the in line engine (compared to the V8) and now most suspension joints are rubber technology rather than rose joints. Pure racers may disagree, but I think this is good news for the majority of potential new Morgan owners.

There are other manufacturers you know.

The kitcar world is full of rolling chassis options so manufacturers could also use them.
At a cost!
