Hi Guys,

I am finally taking delivery of my 4/4 80th very soon! Excited :>)

One thing that I totally love about the car is the 'retro' look that Morgan managed to achieve with the various 'extras' etc. I have been mulling continuing that theme by fitting a pair of aero-screens and removing the windscreen assembly permanently.

This would then mean driving with the tonneau ready for action, either 'half' or full when the car is left overnight.

My thoughts are;

1: I would love the retro look with just the aero screens fitted. The car is a weekend/sunny day car only so I don't necessarily see myself needing the weather protection of the existing screen and hood set-up...

2: Having said that, given this is the UK, is such a strategy 'practical' or sensible!

3: I maybe worry about the security, or lack there off with just a tonneau cover in place if the car is left outside overnight.

4: What is it actually like to drive with just aero-screens fitted?

As removing the windscreen is a pretty big job, and also means disconnecting the heated windscreen electrical connections etc, I am wondering if it's actually worth doing... Am I making a rod for my own back!?

Would appreciate some thoughts and feedback from those much more learned on here!

I too will follow this thread with interest.

I have seen 'normal' windscreens that fold down and aero screen behind that, this may be an option too. Best of both worlds, maybe ?

I like the aeroscreens too, and in an early state I think to fitt them with a folding full windscreen.

That was in the past.

I collect my +4 in late november 2018 at BHM, do some miles to Lands End and back for the first service and than going the fast way home.

My wife and me where happy to see the Morgan is also a great tourer in bad conditions. Great tourer, that' s the point - this year we've done 1000 miles in two month, including two one-day-journeys with about 250 miles.

If you prefer only a few miles around some corners on small roads I think you are on the right way. And think about your passenger. If this doesn't matter, it is your thing - it is your car.

On newer cars there isn't the possibility of a folding screen. I had aeros on 2 of my 3 mogs.

Great fun but wear eye protection.

I leave my car overnight with the tonneau on, nothing untoward has happened.

I too love the feel and look of driving with aeroscreens and as I mostly drive solo I have driven in all conditions for about a year.

It is easy to remove the screen on the 9 stud type windscreen pillars ,cut the heated screen wires and fit a snap connector to quickly connect if you choose to refit the screen.

Aeroscreens (Brooklands type) are about £75 a pair and you have to drill the crash pad to fit...I also supported the underside with a plate.

The screens are secure and do not move at 100+ mph !!

I use the tonneau cover which keeps the heat in the cockpit in winter and 60mph feels like 160 mph.
Always wear googles and I suggest a crash helmet for fast motorway journeys in case of flying objects.

Even when it rains as long as you are on the move there is not much water ingress.

I wear a Dickies waterproof insulated suit for wet weather journeys and have recently had heated seats fitted by Allon White

I found the folding windscreen very unsatisfactory: the fold is just at eye level and reflections on the glass is an issue.

Having said all that I have an early morning pickup from Leeds Airport tomorrow morning ..it will be raining and it has to be in the Morgan so I removed the aeroscreens,refitted the windscreen hood and wipers ..and it only took 20 mins.

So in conclusion: DO IT !!!..for exhilarating driving experience at legal speeds !!!

The problem is Kev, unlike your car with the last of the old style windscreen pillars, getting them off and on is a longer and fiddlier job. Not impossible but you stand more chance of damaging the bodywork around the mounting holes.

Kev, I knew I would be hearing from you with your lovely P4 S/S!!! I must say, it looks the business!

Allow White, who are supplying me the 4/4 are, intending on removing the windscreen from the 2016 4/4 and have told me its not possible to quickly remove and re-fit it... the fastenings holding the uprights are apparently not designed to do so... so it will be a (practically) permanent modification if I go ahead... this is an important consideration!

Kev, Can you post a couple of images with your tonneau fully in place and also in the 1/2 for driving position please? Is that the tonneau wrapping around the front of the Aeroscreens on that from on photo?

When I bought my Mog, it had a pair of wind deflectors, but gave up using them, but instead, I re-glassed them with oblong acrylic sheet, screwed threaded bolts into the top of the bulkhead, behind the windscreen line, and converted them into aero screens. This has worked for years, and I used just one aeroscreen, with the windscreen removed, when sprinting and hillclimbing.

I really enjoyed the Plus Four with screens and found that with the drivers side up and passenger down, there was very little turbulence.

This is how I travel most of the time...cover does not envelope aeroscreens but is tight up to them.

Secret is to keep 1/2 tonneau nice and tight without flapping about.



This is a shot of total closure..even without zip cover flap I don't get any water ingress..but when parked I sometimes use a top car cover foe extra security
