New to me too Jon. In my local "Jet Age Museum" they are gradually recreating the cockpit of one of the these Horsa gliders - a number were constructed by H.H. Martyn (Martin?) here in Cheltenham. They usually made furniture.

I'll post a pic or two if there's time between French cuisine, the Austers, the L4s and the Dakotas. I'll be flying the Kitfox but have put Auster "the eyes of the army" stickers on so that should be ok. ooo

Have a great trip Kerry thumbs

I spent many happy hours in a J4 with my late father back in the day. I remember one of the Auster's we flew being G-AOIP but what model I can't remember.

Arrived back from Normandy, tired but happy with my landings. I think those who stayed home and watched TV had a better view of the ceremonies than we who flew in but there's nothing like landing at a small grass field and then 4 Piper L4s show up. Or spending a few days with L'Aeroclub de Falaise and my friends from the Auster Club. Six days away, 17 hours flying in the "ersatz Auster. These are poor pics from my phone. Will get around to downloading others soon. k

Thanks for sharing your adventure Kerry and what a lovely looking craft you have, it must have been a sobering but big week.
