Ok the government/council's are looking at allowing the public to take pictures or a video of stationary cars with engine running for more than 3 minutes, do this inform the council and you receive a percentage of the fine, like in NYC.

So what’s your opinion I know mine and I want to see what others think? ooo

I think if councils wish to crack down on idling, they should maybe start with their own employees.....

I know of a junction on the South Circular road in south London where a stupid bus lane reduces the road to just one lane for cars.

The result in rush hour is that it takes three changes of lights for the waiting traffic to get through, given that the lights are red for two minutes every driver in this jam could in theory be fined twice.

Get rid of the stupid bus lane and give the road back to us drivers, or is this yet another ploy to get more revenue from the motorist cash cow!!!!!!!

Cynical me? NEVER.....

Oh!! and by the way about three busses use this lane per hour... So it stays empty, when will an authority with some common sense put these things right..

Why is there only one monopolies commission??

Oh dear. The enviro nazis strike again. The obvious answer is that everyone turns off their engines and then have problems starting them again. With the traffic completely blocked by drivers having trouble re-starting their cars the council will soon change their minds.

Someone should point out that the moment at which polution peaks is on a car that has just been started and with a catalytic converter that has cooled below operating temperature.

I think I might join the Anarchist Party. viking

I assume you are referring to idle council workers smile

Here we have done away with as many as we can and pay twice as much to outside contractors, usually so called cooperatives who pay the workers peanuts whilst the executive skims off the cream.

There was a chap on the news in USA who made 10,000 dollars a month reporting vans and cars!

I'm sure I read they are to be banned from cities here, what a miserable bunch.

It is a standing joke down here (engine idling) that in Dartmouth they are going to attempt to enforce it, plod is 15 miles away but we do have a jobsworth around on car parking fine issuance, maybe it will be part of his/her duties.

We also have an annual visit from the fair for a week with static Diesel Generators running for 18 hours a day. Then of course the Steam Railway is pretty busy year round together with the Paddle Steamer Kingswear Castle laugh2.
