How to post a photograph: -

Enter one of Galleries (denoted by a camera next to the forum picture and name)

Choose the New Image tab (below the main navigation menu at the top of the page and next to the Forum Options tab).

In the Subject box, type a subject

Into the Description area, add any information regarding the picture you wish.

Beside the text that reads Post Options you will see some text that reads Image Manager, click this text

A new pop-up window should open (the File Manager window), choose the Browse command and another window will open called Choose File; use this to find the photo you wish to add from your local hard drive or area network.

Once you have found it, press Open and the Choose File window should disappear, leaving you with the File Manager window open.

Now you MUST choose the Add File command, or your photo will not be uploaded to the site.

You can repeat this step as many times as the Gallery allows (most of the Galleries on Talk Morgan allow 5 photos per post).

Once you have added all the files you wish, add a File Caption in the text box (for example, Johns Morgan Plus 8).

Now click Done Adding Files which will return you to the main posting screen.

Press Submit and you have finished adding a photograph.

Congratulations! thumbs

I seem to behaving trouble posting an avatar. It is less than 100x100pixels. 96x96 to be exact. I clicked the radio button and pasted the IMG link, then I tried the URL. The error message is "Improper picture type." But it is a .jpg.

What am I missing! LOL

You need to reduce photos to under 1 MB before posting them. 800 X 600 and 1024 x 768 are OK. I use Fotosizer. It can be downloaded without cost at http://www.fotosizer.com/. Donations are optional.

Remember to either copy your photos to a different folder before re-sizing or let Fotosizer create a new folder for you.

I'm just a happy user of the program.

Well, it does not work for me. Every time I try, I get this message:

"We encountered a problem. The reason reported was

It looks as if your file attachment size exceeded the max size of 1 MB.

Please click back to return to the previous page."

Well it does not exceed 1MB. This system is almost as annoying as the M3W's bonnet/cowl fasteners. Funnily enough, it was a photo of my solution to that which I was trying to post. I cannot be bothered with Photobucket. Oh well, too bad.

Happens to me too even when I have apparently selected a file size below 1 meg. Curiously, if I then email the image to myself, the resulting file is somehow changed (compressed, re-sized?) and can be posted on TM. ps I use MS Outlook.

P Dron - I am irritatingly confronted by that same bewildering message whenever I have tried to post photo images here recently. I am using Photobucket and have previously been successful in attaining my goal. I have tried reducing the images to smallest scale possible but I continue to be repeatedly chided by this frustrating message:

"We encountered a problem. The reason reported was
It looks as if your file attachment size exceeded the max size of 1 MB. Please click back to return to the previous page."

Is there an easy way to include photos taken on an iPad into a post? I have tried to transfer a picture on the " camera roll" across to a post - no luck?

Save the photos to Photobucket on your iPad and then just copy and paste the IMG link into your post.

The only way is with the Photobucket app.

Once installed, you can upload photos from your Apple device to Photobucket, via the app, and then get a link you can use to drop the photo into the topic.

Avatars are set at a very low DPI rating because, were I not to set it this way, it would take too much bandwidth for each user to load each new page.

Anyone who has issues with setting their Avatar can always email me the photo they want and I will cut it down to size and set it up on their account for them.

photobucket doesn't work with (my) iPad. does anyone have a solution to the 'exceeded size' error message? (not for avatar). over at pistonheads you just click on new picture and there it is.

Photobucket works ok for me in my iPad but the photos have to be the correct size before loading in there....which is a pain.

Finally I have got it. An Avatar flag

Perhaps this may help some other desperate TMs to make it work. At least you have sorted out one of possible bugs.

A lot of pics are stored in .jpeg format. In normal TM posts .jpeg works when surrounded with [img]. This "success" could make you wonder why your Avatar will not work (with .jpeg). Ive tried it more than ones...

The TM Avatar ONLY (!!) accepts .jpg format for URL pics. Give it another try if this was the reason why.

Another bug:
At the end of the link Photobucket adds the following:

~original

...after .jpg This must be removed and the line has to end with .jpg

If I recall correctly the photo galleries don't like files that end .jpeg too.

All that is necessary to do is to rename the file with a .jpg extension. If the extension is not showing it may be necessary to adjust the system settings. A search in the Internet for "show hide extensions" will find instructions.

photobucket says TM has used all its storage. Still let me upload though.

The img link they provide is consistently wrong, I always have to remove the words "~original" from the tag before the picture shows. Bit strange

Sorry be for being thick but I am struggling to get anywhere with posting a photo to my profile page as my Avatar.

I have used Preview on my Mac to resize the photo which is below 1 MB.

I have then uploaded that to Photobucket. Of the link options on Photobucket, I have copied the IMG link (which was

I've put that in the URL box on the editing profile page (it looks enormously long as a link but I have simply copied it) but had a message back saying it is an Improper Format.

Please can someone help me on this?

Thanks

Your link ended with .original.

That needed to be removed, so the link ended with .jpg (as in a jpeg or picture file).
One of the problems associated with using the incorrect link from photobucket... smile

Yes, I should have mentioned, I used the "Direct" link, and removed the end after the ".jpg", as Graham mentioned.

Easy when you've done it a couple of times! grin2

A) you may have to resize your pictures to less than 1 mb.
B) button "Switch to full reply screen"
C) link: "file manager"
D) button "select file"... and select a file
E) button "add file"
F) repeat D/E for further files
G) button "done adding file"
F) "submit" your posting

I hope I did not forget anything
Good luck!

an other option is to upload to a photo-share platform and copy & paste the URL to the thread.

The "file manager" link is not existing in this Welcome Forum thread but on other Forum topics - at least when I open them

Seems that the TM Photobucket account is full, so can't upload new pictures. Is it simpler to just have your own account?

There is another way you could try Tim. Go to tinypic.com and follow the instructions to upload your image then copy the code for forums, its a quick and simple way if you just have one or two images.

I could try a hair dryer to loosen the adhesive and then peel it off? I am afraid that "Goof Off" would damage the paint.

Until very recently I could upload pictures into threads directly from my iPhone. All of a sudden I'm getting the "exceeds 1000 bytes" error message. So, I tried using Photobucket again and get the same error message. Has something changed I'm unaware of?

The 1000 byte limit was put in place to alleviate the forum performance issues. Currently pictures up to 1MB can be put in the Morgan Photo Gallery and I believe the limits will be increased on the others galleries. Whether posting directly into replies has yet to be decided.

You shouldn't have any problem with pictures hosted on Photobucket. Which URLs are you using?

I'm techno moronic actually, lol. I've been able to post directly from my iPhoto library until recently. Can't do it any more without getting the error message. So, I uploaded a pic to Photobucket like I'd done previously. Copied and pasted the IG line and STILL got the 1,000 byte error message.

I haven't been able to upload resized 360kb photos for weeks. Just get an error message that file is too large.

If you are getting the error message you must be still trying to use the file manager utility. Just paste the Photobucket IMG link straight into the post.

Not currently. It may be reinstated if the recent server move is deemed successful.

Hi All, I have just joined the forum and am looking forward to reading and discussing things with you all but I am having a great problem adding a photo to my profile, I have reduce the photo below the 100x100 pixel size entered the link into the URL line ticked the tab and pressed submit. I have tried many ways of entering the link but it always come back a "improper picture type" any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Your avatar doesn't have to be hosted on TM-IMG, do I take it you already have it online? If so, then entering the URL should be all you need to do. Let us know the string you entered.
