"Adrian Hallmark, Bentley's CEO, said: "The twelve new Blowers will ... be an homage to our heritage..."

In what way? It was a car that WO Bentley himself didn't want and refused to build. The "Blower" was not a product of the Bentley factory and, as WO foresaw, not a very good car.

Racing Green ls a firm about four miles from home, they convert older tired Bentley's into these older versions. Their workmanship is second to none. It's a pleasure to see them out and about on their test runs. Also the Mog always gets a friendly wave from the drivers.

Bentley has decided to recreate a LeMans Blower Bentley ..... Having read how they intend to go about it I am impressed, however from my increasingly dull memory there is a company who have recreated blower Bentleys of the type in the recent past and may still be doing so... I seem to remember they were scavenging around for Bentley 50`s saloon chassis or similar which helped with registration "issues"..? I also think that there may have been tank engines utilised, though do not remember much else rather than a WONDERFUL looking machine turning up at a vintage event on the Island of Bute and hearing folk muttering under their breath that "it" was not the real thing...!!! Now whether it was as I described above or anything like or not, it looked PERFECT, right down to the lacing on the rear springs, the dashboard was a work of art as was every other aspect of everything I could see in or on it and indeed it did look brand new and out of the box...

If you want any reasonably detailed pics of the "Blower Bentley" that I saw circa 2003 at the show.... Just SHOUT, and I will post some in the "general" section.

Another edit... sigh!

Just noted your post as I posted mine Ray, perhaps Racing Green were the builders of the perfect Blower I mentioned... Thanks for the heads up.

If I won the lottery, one of the few cars I would like to have is a Blower Bentley. It really wouldn't bother me if it was not genuine.

I would probably also have a GT40 replica, and now two engineers are offering a road version of the Porsche 917 using moulds from a real car (recent Octane mag).

And a Cobra.........

They are all cars you could use and not worry too much about trashing a real one.

Lots of "original" Bentleys are not what they appear to be, and the same goes for Rolls Royces.

After WW2, and presumably earlier, old Rolls Royces were used as hearses. When they were decommissioned, they were often fitted with sports bodies.

A friend of the family was offered a really old Rolls hearse without front brakes, in the sixties I think, but he turned it down.....

Perhaps DW would spend some of the win on a house move, personally I keep mentioning to Mrs M that I'd like to move to a large multi car garage with a small attached house hide

A late friend of ours built a nine car garage at the bottom of his garden. His house was an old three bed semi.

Sadly he died young so never enjoyed the benefits.
