Not that it would change the fun I´m having with my Roadster, but out of interest and some discussion with the regulatory authorities I would like to know what engine type I have in my Roadster Sport, model year 2010. Depending on where I look(official authority papers, delivery order, bill of sale from German Morgan dealer, David Wellings excellent book), I can choose if the engine has 204 / 220 / 226 / 231 HP. This also was up for discussion with the authorities, as per papers the car has a top speed of 250 km/h (no, it does definitely not), 230 HP and a vehicle payload of 80kg (well… this gives good reason to drive alone ;-) ). Anyway, concentrating on the engine: The Roadster was delivered through a German Morgan dealer in July 2010, reportedly has the Ford Escape engine - but not sure if it´s a series 2 or 3, as it seems to fall exactly (as per David Wellings Journal) in the period of engine change, where power was increased again from 204HP to 226 (or what?). Any way to find out about the type?
Thanks, Marcel

I think you can ask the factory for more details.
For more power there are a lot dealers in Britain for to cure the problem. A good thing is a membership in the Morgan Sports Car Club (the British - what else?) there get a great monthly magazine, also the Magazine MOG shows nice things.

Marcel, if you supply your unique engine number to Power Torque Engineering Ltd, in Coventry, UK, they should be able to give you an accurate answer as they are the OE supplier of Ford engines to the Factory
Good luck

Marcel I’m no massive authority but from what I know (I have the S2 Roadster 2008) the Roadster Sport was the launch model for the Series 3 engine in 2010
Same ‘Escape’ USA engine as the S2 but uprated in power
Other differences were slightly wider front axle and wider exhaust manifold

Yeah Stewart is on the money.
The wider front frame and Roadster Sport are the key. The first Roadster Sport was at the Buxton Mog in 2010.

The Roadster Sport was claimed to deliver 230 HP due to bigger diameter manifold pipes than the S2 model with 204 HP. Also the Sport never had the rev hang issue and another mapping than the S2 model. Re my Roadster Sport it helped to lead the intake hose above the radiator. The radiator is sealed with a kind of rubber lip between radiator and upper cowl area. I bent this rubber lip down a bit and fastened it with a cable tie so that cold air can flow through this new gap and is reaching the air pipe. The difference in the liveliness of the engine is noticeable. With some Roadster Sport the air hose that leads to the airbox hangs simply only downward which is not so optimal.
meabh, funnily I had not seen that you write about the same issue:)
