To those who have already placed a 3W order, please make yourself known here (even if you've posted elsewhere). This will put our names in one place for reference, as a simple registry.

I suggest limiting editorial comments in this thread, in order to make it most useful for reference.

Details of my order: Placed 09 Apr 11 in California; Build date 50/11 (week/year); LHD/MPH; Must select colors/options by September – tending to Azure Blue or a warm gray non-metallic with either berry red or butter yellow leather; black trim; no decals.

Hi!

I placed my order 24/3 - 2011, builing date not yet confirmed.
Black trim, tan leather (probably).

Bespoken colour, favourites so far: silver metallic (like the silver arrows from the thirties), grey or why not the green from Geneva...

Shark tooth, steering wheel: Moto lita 4-spoke, riveted wood.

Order placed in early March in the UK. No build date but a suggestion of August from the dealer. Have not been asked to specifiy colours yet. Brochure arrived this week - very glossy but much the same as the website. Have not decided on colour but tending towards black trim not chrome.

Maybe a list is the answer:

Name / Ordered / Build Starts / Spec

1. Boshly / 12-months ago / postponed / Mansory
2. Aeroman / 12-months ago / Week 18 / TBA
3. Asbojohn / 6-months ago / Week 18 / TBA
4. Lance / Feb '11 / Week 48 / TBA
5. Salcombe / March '11 / Week TBA (Aug?)/ TBA
6. M3W / March '11 / Week TBA / Black trim, tan leather
7. StevenV / April '11 / Week 50 / TBA

Any more? thumbs

There does seem to be a variation on the build date from the order time - is this because of different booked slots with different dealers?

Also, I have heard that production may not start for several months due to on-going, regulatory and development issues. Any insight anyone?

Cheers Aeroman, I just popped onto the scene less than 24hrs ago. But you can imagine it was hard to sleep last night! happy3

BTW, in terms of livery I was totally reeled in by the vintage fighter look. It layers my boyhood vintage aviation obsession on top of the m3w which was big part of my young man vintage m/c obsession. It was like designers had direct knowledge of the circuits leading to my pleasure centers. One look and I was lost..

That maybe the case but they were in deep conversation with the man from the Ministry yesterday, but my guess from yesterday and the work going on at the factory is that this is unlikely.

It Morgan after all and a visit to the factory in a few weeks will reveal the position with the build. I don't know what the development issues are but having been around the block in it yesterday progress is good. thumbs

I'm here, but I have decided to order through the dealer in Australia, so I don't know when it will actually arrive as they are "working on it", but he has promised me a 2012 delivery. They are boxing with the Australian Design Rules.

So the exact date is kind of blowing in the wind at the moment, hence me not responding to this thread (until now).

Good luck with your battle of the Australian design rules applied to cars.
I did battle to import a used 4 seater and had to abort the deal, because there was no way that it could comply to those rules for that specific year.
Maybe with a new car its different?
Australia has just relaxed the rules for the 4 seater's and seat belts, and Morgan Australia can now apparently import cars again of that type, after a 20 year ban.
Is your going to be a 4 seater?
cheers

There has been discussions regarding if the new M3W are mainly bought by people already being Morgan owners or if it attracts "new comers". Could be interesting to add in the list.

M3W - first Morgan to come...

Sort of. For me, I've always wanted a threewheeler, but since I'm not that mechanical inclined, an old one would be a shame to export from the UK.

The threewheeler just seem to "fit" me: It's odd, retro (really retro uunlike the Fiat 500, Mini, etc.) and utterly impractical unless we compare it to a motorcycle.

If it hadn't been for the threewheeler I would probably have bought a "proper" fourwheeled Morgan, but on a longer horizon (okay, that was badly written, but I would have waited some more years).

The threewheeler seems like a fun thing to drive, fun thing to look at, both for the people driving it and for others.

Not that I don't like the fourwheelers. I do. Both the old-school ones and the various modern ones. It's just that the threewheeler seems such a good match to an idiot like me.

"I am the antipop, I'll run against the grain till the day I drop."

(Primus, The Antipop).

Nah, all that is just rationalisation. It's lust. No way around it.

Agree, Lust was the reason I bought my first Morgan 26 years ago and it is why I am buying this one!

6. Notlob/ Jan '11/TBA/Teal? Red? Connaught grn?/Morgan tyro

First hope was delivery in time to take it down to 2012 classic 24 hrs du Mans. All booked, vmt Mr English. But I wonder if anyone else fancies campaigning them a bit next year? Any views?

Here's what the old hands were up to at Prescott the other week:

You are a very strange lot of Morganeers, very strange indeed.
Only you could order a car with out a roof, windscreen, and even wipers are omitted ?

Getting wet is not dangerous. No need for windscreen wipers since you'll probably be looking over them. No need for fans to remove moisture to stop the windshield from fogging.
No need to have a roof except to protect against the sun, but a hat or a helmet will do just fine.

Let's see... when I think about all the things that the 3W doesn't have, it sounds more like a motorized skateboard on steroids... but no, wait... at least a skateboard comes with FOUR wheels!

Wouldn't that make a four wheeler Morgan more like said motorised skateboard? laugh2

Orders being placed for the 3W have now slowed down, I guess people are waiting until they can physically see a car. I spoke to the Works this morning and production now officially scheduled to kick off at the start of June '11, but knowing Morgan it will be later than this IMHO. coffee

Let's hope we get some cars whilst there is still some sunshine left this summer! shades

Note that I have removed my name from the list. After great deliberation, and with distress over the decision, I cancelled my order this week. Upon seeing the 3W in person, I'll reconsider whether it seems right for me. Meanwhile, it's been a great pleasure getting to know all of you, and thanks for the Morgan welcome!

Not much to elaborate – I am still enthusiastic, but want to see it up close, and be sure it's more than a costly whim.

Steven: most purchases of Morgan's are not done on a totally rational basis. smirk2

On the first build, if you didn't like it, you could probably sell it for a premium, especially if the wait list begins to get long.

A Triking? better engine, nice build, no decals, free cabbage patch with every Factory visit! thumbs

On a more serious note, Brian has hit the nail on the head. If you AREN'T sure, then give it some more thought before making any definite commitment

Sorry to hear it Steve, but maybe you'll get pulled back in when you hear the v-twin go howling past, some time next year.

So anyone heard any fact to back up the rumours that Morgan has told the dealers there will be a delay in the Three Wheeler???

Hi everyone. I'm a newbie. I've been in touch with the Australian importer, nothing definite on the M3W coming downunder yet. As mentioned earlier design rule issues will be the make or break on it coming in. No pricing for OZ yet as far as I know. If it comes in around $60k i'm down for 2, 1 for me and 1 for my son. I have the 3 wheeler bug already as I have a 2cv Lomax 3 wheeler. Low on power but high on fun. 3 wheelers are an out and out hoot. When you guys start getting delivery it'll take 10 years off your age and your jaw will be saw from the ear to ear permanent grin. So put me down for 2 x TBA, spitfire green, RAF insigna and shark decal, black wheels. Morgan virgin.

Gentlemen!

Pleased to announce an order placed today for a 3W, simply based on a sit-in at Goodwood (BHW day) plus the latest vids and a desire to get it before I die now that I've celebrated my 50th birthday last week.

Pathetic, but exciting.

In the same form as before:

Cos Wisniewski / 8 July 2011 / No build date but possibly offered an early-ish date by BHM / Spec tba but not too glitzy / One Aero 8 S3 owned for 4 years and that's my first, so this'll be my second Mog

Can't wait.

With or without order, you were always welcome. smile

However, it is great to hear you've put your order back live - no doubt you'll be thrilled when you get the chance to drive one.

Congrats! With the driving reports and photos that has appeared lately I just wondered how long you could force yourself not to activate your order flag

Has your earlier thoughts about spec/colour cleared during your absence?

Good question. I'm leaning toward a Sport exterior with a Bespoke interior. Definitely black/nickel trim with no decals. I very much like the wire headlamp guards, orange tires, and color combination of the Superdry edition. Of the Sport colors, the only non-contenders (for me) would be black and blue. I need to see more photos of the sand, red, and teal, since those colors have shown great apparent variation in the photos I've seen – they are impacted considerably by lighting, camera, and computer distortions. My first car was nearly identical to Morgan's sand color... had thought maybe to go that direction and dress it up with a medium red or dark brown interior. But they all look so good.

I've recently looked at Aero SS (Auto) and Hammond's old 'Max, but in the end my Aero 8 S3 is too good not to keep and I can add a M3W for a lot less than replacing the Aero 8.

Looking forward to trying to work out what to do colour-wise, and hoping to see more road tests and early versions to steer me in the right direction. Tend to be a bit conservative on colours (Aero 8 is Stingray Grey / Black interior) and expect the seats on the M3W will end up getting stood on quite a bit and getting wet too, so an easy colour like black with a reasonable contrast exterior is where I am right now. Might even go for the same colours on both so Stingray Grey if they'll do it without charging a bundle.

I'd had the same consideration about seat color – dark being more soil-forgiving to stand on. Some here have assured me that you won't need to stand on the seat to climb in, however. Here in coastal Southern California any dark leather color would quickly soak up the sun's heat year-round, and fry my Euro-bum in a nano-second. Might need to keep an official Morgan towel handy to sit on.

Having sat in two now myself and having watched many get in / out at Goodwood BHM day, there are many physical specimens who will find it very hard to get either in or out without using the seats as a step. This isn't a problem as such! But you may be disappointed if a passenger marks your bright yellow leather seats with muddy trainers...

I'm only 5'5" and steping on the seat getting in and out of a 3 wheeler is pretty much standard for these vehicles. Unless you've got a gymnastics background or in your teens you'll be doing it.

Many people have trouble getting into (don't know how too banghead ) my 4/4 and scuff up the carpet in the footwells swear .

Entering the M3W would be very similar to entering/leaving a Caterham/Westfield/...... and I have never seen anyone who does not stand on the seat.

Finally got to sit in one today - at the Midland Section driving tests (excellent day out - the rain went away for the competition part of the day).
Sadly, I'll not be ordering one. Knees jammed so tight together with the padding on the trans tunnel, I couldn't operate the pedals - at all! shocked2 No real problem with entry/egress (though there's no elegant egress - without a sky hook! :grin2)

Guess I'll be sticking to the earlier 4 wheeled cars (I'll probably be safer with them anyway! rofl).

Cheers,

Welcome, congrats, and feel free to stir up the forum banter!

Your reference to "camel colour" has given me an idea for naming and plating my 3W (likely of the same colo(u)r as yours... I could call it (him/her) "Camello" (cah-MEY-zho) which means camel in Spanish — a very appropriate name because of the color, and since it'll easily cross the desert without water. Also, it has the figurative silhouette and character of a dromedary, a lightweight swift breed trained for riding or racing.

I ordered my 3wheeler 14th of March 2011, just after the Geneva Motor show.
It is built No. 32/11. and the Superdry Edition. I think it will be one of the first customer 3 wheelers that will find their way to Germany. There is a production delay; so I a have to wait at least one and a half more month till it will be delivered.

This will be my third Morgan.

My first Morgan is an Aero 8 GTN (VX 53 KTJ, see Top Gear) bought last August and just returned from Richard Thorne after some modifications for track day use; a break upgrade (3 pot calipers) a supension upgrade (new adjustable shocks and springs, a shorter rear axle and machanical limited slip diff.) and an engine remapping. Now it works as it has to be.

My second Morgan is a brand new +4 Super Sports that will be delivered (hopefully) next week. I ordered the +4 SS the 13th of July 2011 just after having sold my Roadster Sport. It is RAF Blue and I have chosen the race pack and the 4.1 (short) rear axle.

I have got production nr 488 and look forward to receive
the threewheeler in May / June 2012.

Steven, I am bitten by the Morgan microbe after having the Aeromax and your Roadster. Magnificent car it is !

I have driven a Threewheeler at Goodwood and signed the orderform immediately.
Was booked for the hillclimb on Friday afternoon together with the factory test driver, but a certain Dizzy Rascal took my place in the last minute because it was commercially more interesting...
Next day a picture of the Morgan with Dizzy Rascal on the tarmac was in the Times !
Anyway, luckily I could drive the car by myself on the country roads around Goodwood, and it was a fantastic experience.
Now another 9 months waiting...

Babbelfish is Hilarious, I bet the Chinese use it to make instructions for cheap electronic equipment.

Or put through babbelfish;
Babbelfish is lively, I made a bet the Chinese use it to give the cheap electronic installation's instruction.

Hi Everybody, this is my first posting here, and I'm the most recent one to put down a £3k non refundable deposit, no idea at this stage what my order number is though, but no doubt I'll find out in due course. What's the story with the drive belt, have they sorted it yet, and will the demo cars be on their way soon?

Are there any other little problem areas the factory are likely to be working on before production proper starts?

Hi Paul and welcome to TM.

The demo cas are with the dealers now as they were all delivered together (well that was the theory).

Hopefully all of the issues have been / are being resolved so the start of production shouldn't be too far off now, just in time for winter gloomy

One more to Sweden! Can´t wait to see (and feel) what I have ordered (going to an exebition in Stockholm today, the M3W is said to be there!). Next thing to do is decide colour and trim. Red with black trim, green/black or black/tan (my wife says no to silver :(, but yes to a 3-wheeler :)), this will be hard!

That's funny, I had just the opposite reaction. It still didn't deter me though, it will just be another of those bridges that will have to be crossed when we get there.

How do others convince their better halves that a small, noisy car, with no weather protection and no luggage space is going to be fun?

Negotiate: "If I get this, you can have that."

And point out that lack of weather protection leads to small country inns. Plus, there's enough luggage space for a small overnight bag and a bottle of wine. It might even be bubbly upon arrival.

Just a thought about order dates, as dealers were all encouraged to pre-order with a certain number of orders, then sell them on to customers, doesn't it depend when your individual dealer ordered from the factory, as to where you are on the waiting list, in other words if someone ordered their car, say, back in April, but the dealer had already sold his allocation of slots, but someone else ordered in September from another dealer who still had a couple of slots available, wouldn't that guy get his car first?

That figure was mentioned when I was at the factory yesterday. Pretty impressive really.

I hope my dealer gets his demo car in soon...I'm itching to give it a go!

I had one of those conversations the other week, a guy mentioned Red Triangle the Alvis people,
I said, " very nice but I'm more of a Morgan man myself "
"Oh" he says " Even though I'm retired I've still got a unit (actually a bolt hole to get me out the house)on the Runway and a bloke in the next unit knows I'm into cars and bikes and showed me a fabrication, or was it a machined part? Any'ow, it was to mate a gearbox to a big V twin for Morgan and they have just doubled the order, originally it was going to be a limited edition of 200 said this bloke but the orders just keep coming" smile

Just to be on the safe side, you might consider a small sacrifice to the Mayan god "Xaman Ek," who took care of travelers.

customer-shark-decals are smaller then the showcars
so I would suggest you have your own made in a local shop

Placed an order for a green/tan model through Isis Imports in San Francisco on Saturday 28-Jan. Err, I suppose I should specify 28-Jan-2012.

I am also seeing if I can get a Right-Hand Drive model in the States.

would be interesting to see if it was possible. I certainly would find a RHD in the states to be more fun, though it could be harder to deal with when passing on a single lane and getting out of a parallel spot and so forth...

I know that Cali had tougher restrictions than in other states, so I wonder if not in Cali if its allowed in other states.

Driving the car from the "wrong" side is surprisingly easy to get used to. I found that to change gear with the left hand needed some extra minutes to get used to especially working a tight gearbox on an inspiring road.

But it might affect your passenger more... Just heard a story about a guy that were to change his RHD Morgan (UK import) here in Sweden beceause his wife could not longer stand to be "exposed to the traffic". crazy2

Also, when meeting other cars in city traffic/crossings drivers tend to search for eye contact with your passenger...and if that person enjoying the scenic views more than traffic that causes some interesting moments... swear and whatever you do, do not let your passenger zip on a beer..when you are driving. cop

I've a right hand gear lever on my right hand drive vintage trike and to be honest - it was the least difficult control to adapt to using. (The usual for right hand drive is left hand gear lever).

Throttle - hand lever on steering wheel
Advance/retard - hand lever on steering wheel (these days, fully automatic)
Air - hand lever on steering wheel (these days, also fully automatic)
Brake pedal - rear brake only
Handbrake - front brakes only

The hand controls actually are pretty easy, the difficult bit is the brake operation. Many vintage trikes are converted such that the operation is the other way round.

The hand controls are also made easier by the fact the steering is only 270 degrees lock to lock. (Early trikes are even less, 135 degrees or so).

Same for me. I found the turn signal the worst -- especially in sudden lane changes (e.g. coming upon a flock of sheep in the road in the countryside) when I would often flip the wipers on instead.

From the photos, it appears that the Mog3 has the turn signal on the "wrong" side in every locale -- probably so it won't hit the bodywork. So for me, RHD would put the turn signal stalk on the left, or "proper" side.

I think many makes now put the turn signal on the left regardless of left or right hand drive.

Japanese/European Motorcycle Controls:
Left-Hand: Clutch, headlights, turn-signal, horn
Right-Hand: Throttle, front-brake, starter, kill-switch
Left-Foot: Shifter, kick-stand, foot down stopped in gear
Right-Foot: Rear-brake, foot down when stopped in neutral

Harley:
Split turn-signal to two buttons, one per hand.

Old British Bikes (Yes, I had a Tiger):
Swap Left-Foot and Right-Foot controls.

And then the Swedes do whatever seems entertaining at the time of manufacture!

Don't forget the old Indian (they invented the twist grip) had a left hand throttle. Now that would take some getting used to. Right hand gear change and left foot clutch with the brake on the right foot. The clutch pedal would lock down to enable the rider to put his foot down when stopped.

Speaking strictly as a consumer, the motor vehicles from Sweden that I've owned have had controls placed in unexpected places. In the case of my pre-GM SAAB, there seemed to be EXTRA controls placed in unexpected places.

To be fair, there was never any use of Whitworth hardware, which for all I know I will find on modern Mogs.

p.s. Is your avatar a photo or Photoshopped?

Looks nice Charlie

I guess you're expecting delivery 2013? I placed my order in January '12 (I think the official date will be December '11, since the dealer already had some stock orders which he converted to customer ones) and I was told to expect summer 2013 at the earliest.

I decided not to spec mine yet, as I'm sure I will change my mind 100 times in the next 12 months smile Your picture has already made me question my choices again smile

I don't have any official date as of yet, but I would assume a 2013 delivery date. But then at the dealership yesterday, he said in May/June they are planning on getting the first shipment of customer cars and mine could be in with that. So, I'm not sure what to think. Logicaly, I'm thinking 2013, man-logicaly May/June.

Dealers had to make order commitments back in February last year, and some dealers still have unfulfilled orders available, so if you can find a dealer who has that, then you could be really lucky and get an early delivery, I guess that is what may be happening with yours Mi3W.

By the way, apparently my car is due to be built in week 16, does anyone know what date that is? Logically I would say it could be week beginning 16th April, but it depends when the factory start their year.

Is it week 16 in the year or week 16 in the build order list? As some have just received their orders, potentially they could be week 1?

Im not sure how it works, just speculating.

Good to know, this news makes me a bit more excited! He did say I was only the third person to place their down payment, so this is a possible scenario! And the 16th week of this year is the week starting April 16th.

I placed my order/deposit for a three wheeler last March, I was informed I was the first from a US customer when I visited the factory. A month before Jay Leno! It will join my '53 +4, 4pl flat rad DHC, '59 +4 race car and '67 +4 2pl, my street car. I will ask for a Carmon Red Metallic colour, which has a Porsche color designation, M3W... appropriate? My build date was first to be mid-March this year. The delays are building and the current estimate is July. I hope to visit the factory for the build, but am not able to travel at will. Wish me luck!

Has anyone seen the tonneaus, is the plastic one tatty?

Aero steering wheels with Morgan Logo?

I will immediately repaint the Cycle fenders from black to body colour.

We need to look for tuned stainless exhaust systems!

Keep smiling, I am awaiting my build/delivery!

Welcome too

The factory imports the already black fenders, they inform me it is not a listed option (???)

they are super-busy but I would still ask the price to get them painted with the rest of the bodywork

Yes, its always easier to match the paint exactly when its the same paint, on the same day, with the same person spraying the parts. It is interesting that its not a standard option to have body color or otherwise rims and wheel arches as this seems to be a very classic look of the car.

Oh dear, I may be in trouble then, as I've chosen my body colour to match the front mudguards and wheels, as I couldn't do it the other way around!

Yes, this is how I understand it to be the case, but it may be cheaper for them to repaint them the color of your choice than to do it yourself and attempt to make it match on your own. This is unless you can buy the same paint from Morgan, which would at least make that part of it easier.

My main point was just that it is not provided as a standard option to change as I am sure plenty would opt for different color wheel arches and rims.

I don't know, to be honest, but I think I prefer black (perhaps matte black) when it comes to the wheel arches. I think that, depending on "hull" colour, it might be a bit too much having them in the same colour. Black at least matches the rubber and spokes.

Whilst Morgan may be saying "you can have mudguards in any colour you like as long as it is black" it may be that for the first few they are trying to avoid bespoke options as much as possible. I personally have found them so obliging on little extras that I can't help thinking that, for a price, they would do body colour on the guards, at least once the first rush is out of the way. Why don't you ask what they would charge?

Maybe the designer had an idea that it should have a fender-less look...or? With black fenders tightly following the curve of the wheel it actually looks a bit like that from a distance.

Have just been notified by my dealer that my new build date is week 27, 2012.
Since my original build date was week 48, 2011, mine is 31 weeks late.
Have to have my specifications in by the third week of May so keep those photos coming.

Interesting, considering the vehicle that it is, I would have assumed Analog would have made the most sense, but the entire dash panel has always felt like it was just thrown on there and doesnt fit with the car as well as it could.

I've found out evil

Reminds me of the quote from the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy:
utterly insignificant little blue-green planet whose ape-descended life forms are so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea.

Mine has a real clock, a nice period clock-work one. Probably meant to be an 8 day movement, but slows and stops after 5 days.

Wow! That really is amazing. I just bought a copy of the film Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and watched it last night. It must have sliped through a wormhole in time and space.

I was a great fan of the radio serial when it first came out.

If I want a whole new experieance I can watch it in Italian or any of several other languages which will definitely require that I find a Babel Fish.

From the 4th book ("So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish "):

The sign said:
Hold stick near centre of its length. Moisten pointed end in mouth. Insert in tooth space, blunt end next to gum. Use gentle in-out motion.
"It seemed to me," said Wonko the Sane, "that any civilization that had so far lost its head as to need to include a set of detailed instructions for use in a packet of toothpicks, was no longer a civilization in which I could live and stay sane."

The sand with tan trim looked good, I would have had that instead of black and tan, but my order had already been processed and it was too late to change. Maybe the next one...............

I am not much of a social web site person and probably won’t write a lot, but I thought I might as well introduce myself to all of you. Maybe some of you still remember me.

I am returning to the Morgan fold after a 12 year lapse. When you get older you begin to downsize your house, garage, cars, income, etc., and in the process sold off my 1935, 1936 and 1938 Super Sports three wheelers and my 1991 4/4. Over the years I really missed owning a Morgan and and the camaraderie that went along with ownership, so I just ordered a new three wheeler.

It took me six years to restore my 1936 Morgan three wheeler and I know a new one will never be able to fully replace it, but I am sure the new one will be a lot more comfortable, easier to drive and probably safer. To remember the spirit of my ’36, I ordered my new one the same color green with same interior oxblood leather; black engine, the Matchless had black heads so this is the closest; chrome radiator shell, headlamps, exhaust and roll bars. I only wish the wings and wheels would have matched the body and wheels on my old one, but Morgan only has black ones.

Bert

Welcome to the site Burt. Why don't you just get your wheels and wings resprayed when you get the car, it couldn't be easier. Just because Morgan don't do the colour you want, doesn't mean you can't have it. It will make the car truly unique then.

Had my test drive this morning at the dealer near Reading. Very informative! My legs are almost too long for the space between the pedals and the steering wheel. But I'm not going to let the lack of leg comfort from me buying such a great little car.

So I've placed an order for a yellow body with black quilted leather. The build date is in theory 5/13 ready for delivery in the start of March. PERFECT, as my birthday is not the 6th of that month.

Order a MOMO steering wheel (No 26 - 280 mm) and you will be more comfortable with your left leg. I mounted one yesterday - perfect for my overweight 185 cm body.

My name is Achim, I placed my order for my Dreirad yesterday in southern germany, lhd with small Momo steering wheel, exhaust tubes slightly curved to follow the shape of the boat, with chromed lights at the back, colour / leather not yet defined (this will be a hard work to decide, I need lot of photos of your cars listening ), delivered in march 2013. I hope there is a chromed solution for the air filter cap in the months to come.

Big weekend for me - after months of advertising and very little interest, someone turned up on Saturday, paid the full asking price for my C3 Corvette, and drove it away!
I now have the garage space, and the required funds for the M3W... and can even splash out on the chrome pack or special colour smile It suddenly feels real! Role on February!

I would have the cowl polished or painted in the color of the bodywork

special color: then you might want to visit the factory to be sure it works "in real life", for me light colors don't do the car favor (for me!!!!)

I might go to the factory somewhere october/november to test the MUSTANGV6

Interesting idea 1560, I hadn't seriously considered a factory visit. Quite a long way from Belgium, no?

On light colours: I asked Thomas at Morgan Belgium and he emailed me some pictures of the cars they have delivered so far: the Sport Sand looked the best to me. There was a silver one with non-chrome cowl (or is it painted body colour?) which personally I don't like

How about silver with red leather and some red racing numbers. A bit like MB GP cars of the '30s, or 1955 Sterling Moss racer.

Not sure about the racing numbers but it's funny you should mention silver and red... that's what I've been leaning towards ever since I saw this picture (sorry, can't remember who originally posted it)

I'm wondering if it's the same as this car

However, whenever I mention red leather to family +friends, they're less than keen... and a bespoke colour + bespoke interior + chrome pack is going to be tough on the bank balance so I need to be sure...

It's only just occurred to me, but what about a two tone effect by painting the front and rear cowls one colour and and the lower part of the body another colour? My head is begining to hurt just thinking of the various combinations

i wouldn't put racing numbers on. The MSA will complain to the Morgan Three Wheeler club if they see it being driven on the road,

Vspec don't listen to them. I'd go for a nice solid colour with a contrasting interior. But with a view to considering what else you can do to bedazzle the car to make it your own.

Decals, strips and stickers can all be had for a small sum of money, but most importantly can be changed as and when you feel a need.

I'm currently working on amendments to my version 1 graphic package and a few other exterior mods.

Looking at adding some more decals along these lines to mine in the near future

I get your point and I do like what you've done with yours.

On the stickers I was always worried that over the years the paint will end up a different colour underneath, as the rest of the car fades (even if only slightly)?

Accepted on the paint front, although I figure at the rate of ideas I have or suggestions being made this wont be an issue, I can see a change being made every year at least.

I'd be interested to know how many owners have managed to chip the paint getting in and out of the car. I've managed it twice so far, so I may end up going rat rod sooner than I thought.

That precise red leather (in the photo above) would be perfect for Sport Sand with a red/white number decal. Red with Sport Sand = WINNER!!!

Today I got the news, my car has arrived! Black with tan leather, ready for the Swedish roads (a few more weeks before the snow). On Friday (or Saturday) I’ll go and get her, stand by for first impressions!

I placed a deposit thru Pete Larson around April 1 of 2012, and expect a build date around April 1 2013. Seems like a proper gestation period.

Pete developed the Ace, and it seems appropriate to buy from the source. We are looking at going to England to pick it up, tour the factory, drive around, and have it shipped. If that can't be done, a trip to Seattle and a drive back to Santa Fe New Mexico would be a "trip of a lifetime".

I've now seen a few and ridden in one, and am well satisfied it is well built and is totally impractical for anything but lots of fun. The weather in the US South West is quite sunny, with little and very predictable rain, short Winter. Seems perfect.

We put on the Santa Fe Concorso each year in Septembet, on the last weekend, www.santafeconcorao.com as a charity event.

Drive your M3s out and go on our tours.

Sorry, I mis typed the address for our car event. It is www.santafeconcorso.com Take a look at our web site, it updates often, and come out and join the fun. Sir Stirling and Lady Susie, Al Unser, and Bob Bondurant are just a few of our judges for the charity event .

Can I suggest that this thread is running oldest to newest and is therefore backwards?

Also it would be interesting to post 2 columns of data, order date and promised build date. We could see which way the dates are drifting.

Hello to everyone. I am a Morgan virgin, be kind!

I've followed this forum for quite a while, but never got around to joining up...till now.

After a test drive in early 2012 and a factory visit in the summer I eventually ordered my M3W in November from Lifes Motors and the build date is week 20 (mid May).

Starting to get excited, but have a load of work to do on my garage before it arrives.

Virtually decided the colour scheme - Sport Grey, shark mouth, RAF livery, bullet holes ( on wife's side), black exhausts. Struggling to choose between black or mulberry leather, but got until March to decide.

I assume people know about the 2013 price rises, £950 on basic car and various increases to optional extras...such is life!

Thinking of joining a Morgan owners club, but can't decide which would suit me best. Fancy doing some touring and maybe the occasional track day. Suggestions most welcome....

Recommendations as to best club depends on what you want and do. As I've suggested before to new owners of five speeders, join both the MTWC and the MSCC and make the decision after nearly a year.

Plenty of us are members of both clubs (I am), and both invite members of the other Morgan club to most of their functions.

The original Morgans are the two speeders, then they got carried away and put a three speed and reverse gearbox in. The latest has a five speed speed gearbox, hence the name.

I placed my order in June 2011, had a provisional delivery date of last September which came and went. Still don't have a firm date but the rubbish weather is making it a little easier as I wouldn't be driving it anyway.
I have been avidly taking note of everyones modifications/accessories and have got quite a list already of things to do.

June 2011? Really? Not June 2012? I know these cars have a long delivery but that is really taking the Micheal. I oredered mine in October 2011 and took delivery in May 2012. I think your dealer is taking advantage of you frankly. Ring around to a few dealers in the South, especially some of the smaller ones who will have stock orders in and no customer lined up yet. Try Williams at Bristol for a start. Get your deposit back by hook or by crook and start again. It really doesn't matter who you source the car from, you can always build up a relationship with your local dealer through servicing etc, if you want to.

It does seem a hell of a long wait when they are churning out around 10 a week. At least you will benefit from the improvements to width and pedal box adjustment and by the looks of it a re designed compensator.

Honestly, the longer your wait is, the more likely that bugs and issues that are found in early cars will be corrected before you take delivery. Morgan tends to work less in a model year and more in a fix stuff as it happens, so a car months apart can have very different materials included.

Welcome to the forum. Looks like you have just the right amount of crazy3 to fit right in. I think the mulberry would just look fantastic with grey, it would add a touch of class.

Sadly not going over next week. You may well get the new compensator with alloy component fitted.....to replace this!

The compensator has always been a thing of mystery...I knew that it was packed with a bright blue thick grease but the photo gives some idea of whats in it!

Probably ought to register here too now, as my order is placed. Live near Guildford, Surrey, UK, expect my Spitfire Green with brown leather but no bright-pack to be delivered mid-June this year and hope to time my factory visit to see it being built by those Engineers with pencils in their brown coats.... Richard Thorne supplying.

I already have an impractical, open car without windows, roof, heater or anything electronic (Renaultsport Spider, proper LHD), so the 3-wheeler should be in good company.

The Renault Sport Spider is one of my dream cars, along with a Morgan of course (and a Porsche 356...) I've only ever seen a Spider in the flesh once, about 15 years ago, but that was enough to make me want one. If you don't mind me asking, what colour is yours and do you have the fold down windscreen? I've heard that their a little under-powered, do you find that?

I used to live in Godalming (now Reading), so know the area well. There are a few Morgan owners in the area, but I don't know of any M3Ws.

Drove a Sport Spider, and loved the chassis, but found the engine a tad uninspiring. The car felt very solid but also quite heavy for what it was. Shades of M3W?

There was a Helem roofed version with a twin turbo V6 from the Safrane biturbo - now that must have been wild! Never seen one.

My Alpine GTA V6 makes a nice contrast to the Aero 8 S3 and M3W that share the garage. GTA is a fantastic drive. Engine is great too - but I love all 3 to bits and all drive very differently albeit all tremendous cars and all rare (which is what gives me the biggest kick).

My word, what a very well knowledged bunch of folks you are! I look forward to bumping into other Morgan owners in Surrey, although I have more chance of seeing an M3W than a Spider. There were only 60 ever sold in the UK between 96 and 98, but the RHD cars are not really right and proper, as the balance is all wrong (LHD drive cars balance driver with fuel tank and battery and don't need nasty bell-cranks for clutch and brake pedals).

My Spider is a little bit 'tweaked', as is my way, and runs Ohlins, +30bhp and other general tweakery. It is much more responsive now, as the weight has dropped to about 850kg and power lifted to 180bhp. It is of course the correct Yellow with Grey and with Windscreen, plus LHD. It's cold, windy and impractical, but brilliant fun and surprisingly capacious with lots of luggage space in the front boot for a French Continental tour. Mrs R1NGA and I do a lot of events with the Renault Alpine Owners Club (twinned with the Alpine Gordini Club de France) and the Macon Rally is a highlight. La Vie en Bleu at Prescott in June (Sun 2nd this year) is also a cracking event - WISCOS, you really should come looksee! Loads of Alpines and Bugatti's of every shape and flavour. I was parked in the Paddock collecting area in the pi55ing rain at the 2009 event next to Pink Floyd's Nick Mason in his T35, both of us sheltering under umbrellas comparing notes about classic cars and Audi RS6's, which we both happened to have at home and wished we were sat in at the time!

I really look forward to my time with the little Morgan and I am sure it will compliment the Spider, not fight for attention with it.

Unless it's snowing I'll be at Prescott! See you there!!

I've done the hill in the GTA, although would probably not come that far in it these days, and it needs the headlining re-glueing. Common enough problem as the glue eventually dries out!!

Your Spider sounds epic. I must rejoin Club Alpine Renault and use that car a bit more - my son wants it when he's a bit older (he's only 11 at the moment).

I agree you'll find the little Mog is unlikely to spoil your enjoyment of anything else...

Just thought I would put my spoke in here. Expecting to collect my 3 Wheeler from Williams this week. Really looking forward to it especially as the weather may have turned....

My only internal debate is about the steering wheel. There are some lovely looking wheels (the bespoke wooden ones and the simmonds especially) but I was thinking smaller rather than larger.

Drive it for a while and then decide.

I'm not sure on the Simmonds wheels they sometimes look too chunky, I think if I were to fit one of the super spoke I'd need to do something with the plastic column cowl.

I've decided on one of these http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/steering-wheels/momo-model-31-steering-wheel

320mm feels about right and I think the suede looks great with the M3W.

Glad to join this crew of M3W lunatics.

Hoping for delivery to Houston, Texas in September/October!

Cheers

Good for you Crowbar, I'm sure you will be as pleased as the rest of us when you take delivery and the months after, in spite of the little niggles along the way. Between us all, we may have sorted out the problems with the bump steer by then too.

Our Three Wheeler clan is getting bigger by the month - great. I love it that we have owners and enthusiasts around the world, all going nuts over the same stupid little car.

Thanks guys - build date is the 3rd week of September! Thinking about makes a pilgrimage to Malvern Link for a factory tour!

Quick question, does anyone know if the "Maroon" Mohair Tonneau Cover is a match for the standard "red interior? Or are they different reds? I'm OK if they're not an exact match, but I don't want them to completely clash.

Cheers!

Welcome Thorsten. I'm also new here, but my car has reached the status of Production Fixed, which I am told is good. Could go into build any day now. Will try to time my Factory Visit for when my car is being screwed together. All very exciting....

Welcome to TM, I think I recognise Falmouth? If so I suspect that you bought your M3W through Perranwells? Nice people. Got my last one there.
