My Roadster exhaust has a blow on the drivers side where the manifold meets the cat. This is a triangular gasket.
The MMC parts book has it as part MX1309 Ex flange gasket.
None of the usual suspects stock it but it looks like a common item fitted to many vehicles.
Does anyone have a spec for it?

I wrote this in the „any known issues 3.7“ thread:

„It's been 12.5 years since I had given up the series 1 Roadster, so the exact memory has faded a bit. But there is a connection with a flange gasket. Either it was between the manifold and the catalytic converter or behind the catalytic converter I can't remember exactly. This gasket (on both sides) never lasted longer than 4000 km. You can hear it immediately when it blows and the performance is significantly lower.“

Meanwhile I am pretty sure it was the same gasket as you describe John. I do not know a parts number but it could be worth to think about a stronger replacement gasket which a exhaust maker could perhaps cut to the right dimensions, or if different suppliers are there to chose the strongest offer. This gasket is a weak point.

Heinz,
this went at 44,500 miles. I never heard of other failures.

Never had one let go in 50k miles on an S1, so for me that's reliable

John, I think Brands Hatch had them in stock for a fellow S2 owner last year

The gaskets are rubbish, I gave up in the end on the Roadster Lightweights as I was changing so many and glued the flanges with High Temperature Silicone...

At that time I drove the Roadster very sporty. I was 14 years younger than now. Actually, I always demanded full power because it was a lot of fun. And on the motorway I liked to drive 190 km/h over a longer period of time, in dry conditions and without traffic. Mostly the gaskets got broken when I went in second gear to highest rpm. It can be that other experiences are more positive as described above in the posts. I always had trouble with these seals.

Heinz, I share with you the joy of driving the Roadster at high speed, it is an adventure. I recall driving Munchen to Amsterdam couple of years ago. Earplugs are a must, what a noise!

Yes I used ear plugs as well at that time when driving so fast, Bert. And I trusted the aluminum 5 bolt wheels. I am not sure if I would drive so fast with centre lock spoke wheels.
