The local council has just announced they will be gritting the roads here tonight. Was it a mild winter last year? I really try to avoid driving the Morgan when they’ve gritted! Should I?

Twice this week the tintop has been frosted over in the morning - 'it's grim up north'

Then yesterday, one month of rainfall in one day & flooded roads everywhere boat

Yes and no. It depends what your attitude towards the car is. As always with salt and grit (do they use salt as well?) there is the increased possibility of corrosion because salt aids electrolytic action and of corse the grit, including that thrown up by other cars can damage the paintwork. However you can also say it is a car and was made to be used - look at the people who use Morgans for off road trials smile

I don't absolutely avoid going out in the winter but I would probably avoid a freshly gritted road if I could.

Give it a miss if you can, but if you do get caught out and find they have gritted give it a thorough hose down underneath and it should be ok. This is where it is quite important to have a good 3 in 1 oiling down the seams before winter as per the Morgan handbook.

I like using mine year round on Dartmoor topless it's great fun and what it's all about thumbs. It's a motor car not a chocolate teapot laugh2 I took these in the 4/4 Sport about 5 years ago a bit fresh but my God you never felt more alive than a fresh morning run.

The polishers and concourse folk may well be aghast at this but it's all about choices and driver enjoyment is mine woohoo grin2

It is November??

I will not be taking Seve when there is ANY likelihood of salt. I had a new motorbike 10 years ago and used it twice with salt on the roads and although I washed it off immediately after use, it just melted in front of eyes...

We had some ice this morning - it got to -2C last night, but the rain must've washed any frost off the grass!

Boy am I glad I'm a Southern Softy!! Been over the boat yard this morning playing boats then home to cut the grass whilst also collecting the first major leaf fall, lovely sunny day, tomorrow off to the coast for F&C on the beach.

Guilty as charged and delighted we moved to The English Riviera with it's warmer climate as my good lady suffers from Reynaud's syndrome and cold weather exacerbates the situation.
I'm not impressed with the white stuff unless you are in a plane looking down on the Alps at sunset, now that is spectacular we were lucky enough to witness this on our homebound flight from RSA.

Went to a Cars and Coffee meet this morning near Manchester (Help for Heroes), didn't chance Morgan though, went in tintop. Came back with car absolutely covered with salt.
