BMW B58 versions described here. All the advertised info I've seen points to the Plus 6 having the 335hp (250kW) version and in any case the Morgan Plus 6 has been added (in red) to the Wiki application list.

Unless MMC plan to offer a version with the S58 version. 510 bhp. Hmm.

BMW quote 339hp for the new Z4 and I cannot see Morgan have an up rated version.
However, as I have said in other posts....over 400hp is quite commonly offered by tuning companies.......

Without an LSD you wouldn't get that power on the road with such a light car. And traction control. When Plato tested the Aston Martin with 700bhp on a 0-62-0 blat, it couldn't get the power down, and lost big time to the Ferrari it was up against. Which backs up my theory as to why that Aston couldn't get away from my Plus 4 in Scotland.

Could it be that the Aston driver didnt feel like driving faster. Many is the times that my Ferrari has been overtaken by white van man. No he was balls out. It sounded fantastic, but the lack of road width, lack of straights, loose surface, hairpin bends means it isn't good for a lardy high power electronic limited supercar, whereas a simple lightweight Morgan is very well suited. When he took a wrong turn and we got in front, the way he came past on the only straight told me all I needed to know.

Agreed Howard , there are some ridiculously fast humdrum cars out there with nutters in the driving seat and sometimes families in tow , must be in 2nd gear with foot flat to floor ! He invariably ,sees a nice classic sports car , gets angry/jealous and goes for it !

We call it the "Vintage Sportscar Challenge". They really don't like the idea that there is an "antique" car in front of them and will sometimes take huge risks to get past. Or tailgate you to see what the badge reads

To be far, with regards to modern vehicles, even something quite "run of the mill" can run rings around cars that are only 15 years old.
As Morgans have designs that date back much longer than that, I would not even TRY to live with something on the road? Now I know my Roadster is quick in a straight line, but after that.....
Not sure if you watched 5th Gear two weeks a modern Fiesta ST (with a 1.5 econ boost engine) - and a 1996 Escort Cosworth went head to head and the Fiesta wiped the floor with the 4x4 Cossy.
Now I worked for Ford at the time and the Escort Cosworth really was the cats pyjamas!
If that Fiesta ST was to take on a trad Morgan...it would be...well "interesting".
However, a PlusSix, would beat the Fiesta......

I'm afraid I can't see a lot of sense in having more power than you can actually use. What I want out of a car is something that has a reasonably comfortable ride but at the same time can get around a corner quickly without uncomfortable body roll and/or loosing grip. My days of drifting and getting through a set of tyres in 8,000 km are behind me. I want a car that is going to be able to easily maintain legal cruising speeds (or maybe just a touch more ) even on the steepest highway hills when fully loaded. I frankly don't care what the top speed may be even though I might occasionally give the car a run on a deserted road but with these days of speed traps and restrictive laws I don't want to risk huge fines and losing my licence. I also like the idea of some driver "aids". I do like ABS, and traction control would be nice but not essential with the sort of power I think of as adequate. With a naturally aspirated car I think a 2.5 litre engine would suit me better than the 2.0 litre engine I have, With a modern turbo charged engine, and considering the weight of a Morgan and the torque characteristics of a turbo engine , I think I would be content with a 2.0 litre engine. I would probably find an engine that developes 200hp more that adequate. I would expect reasonably quick acceleration from a standstill and enough for safe overtaking plus good comfortable cruising speeds.

That's a cool conversion.
I must admit I thought the late spec BMW 4.8L V8 with sports cat and sidepipes should have been good for close to that anyway ?
Peter does make a fair point re over powered and making the driving less of the entertainment but I guess I am just getting old and lazy 8)
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

I would say the later +8s and the Roadster are the limit on that chassis. 400bhp would be very worrying.
