If you like cars you should watch the movie. Christian Bale was incredibly good for me. Plus points of the movie: The relationship between Ken Miles and Carroll Shelby. Ken Miles, the introverted but at the same time socially difficult guy. An extraordinarily good character portrayal. The stuffy and bourgeois world of Ford managers at the time is captured very closely. All plus points. I didn't like the somewhat stereotypical presentation of the Italians very much. I also find the racing scenes in the film with Steve McQueen more authentic, even if it describes a different time but that movie wasn't retrospective, it was shot in the real epoch. At that time there were no computers but a 911 in which cameras were installed in front, so that they shoot real racing scenes at 250km/h.

Another plus in the new movie is the way they captured the engine sound. I liked the film all in all very much.
Dillon plays himself as usual and Bale is the total quick-change artist. But both find each other in the movie very well and seem authentic. The relationship is real.
I was just surprised that the film only runs in small arthouse cinemas and was hardly visited half full.

Agree Heinz I saw the film this week.

Period detail was excellent and I saw the film in 4xD...the full seat moving, water sprayed in your face and fuel smells experience.!!!!

Highly recommended.

I see the "old LeMans" in the early years too, but as I remember about different magazines they fixed the cameras on a 917.

But doesn't matter. I won two tickets for the actuall movie last week and are sitting in front of my letterbox to wait for them.

Remember watching Ford v Ferrari some years back , not a very fair battle with Ford tipping huge amounts of dollars at the project !

- saw this yesterday ( titled ' Le Mans '66 ' in the UK) and have to say I really enjoyed it.

As others have mentioned, the cinema was not too full so not sure if the film is enjoying the success it deserves.....

My memory of the GT40 is biased because they were built near me (and I saw them trundling around a few times) by John Wyer, but as far as I can recall, the only Ford content was in writing cheques and I have no knowledge of a Shelby content at all. Maybe someone could educate me in the error of my ways?

As James above says 'Le Mans 66' is the current newly released film...

Went to see it last night, thought it was great !, and even Mrs M approved

I like to spot continuity errors & bloopers in films as I'm a sad old git - so in this one, very early on, is a Mini in the background of Ken Miles garage oops... in '64 deffo did not have wind up windows doh & also for me too many close-up shots of gear changes at max revs & speed on the Mulsanne managing yet another upshift grin2

Anyway, anyone with some VOC's in their bloodstream & a couple of hours spare GO and see it ! flag

While we're at it, uncovering mistakes. In the beginning, Ken's wife comes to his workshop. There's an MGA (if I'm not wrong) on the lift. In a camera shot you can see the front wheel next to her head. The tyre is guaranteed 2019 and not 1964:) But so what, it just struck me, nothing else.
