Hello All.
I have just cleaned my computer keyboard after spilling coffee over it. I clicked it back together but didn't put the screws back. I think it's faster now because of the weight loss. Colin Chapman was correct!

I still use my beloved Lenovo X301 Thinkpad from 2008, today with Win10. 7 years ago I poured a full glass of red wine over the keyboard. Don't type drunk:) With the alcohol the laptop was slower (unusable). It could be saved and got a new keyboard. However without plastic foil the original keyboard had so that red wine may never be poured over it again.

On the subject of computers ( which I am well known for having restricted skills ) can the collective tell me, do lap tops "get old" and slow down? We are on fibre broadband but either it or possible I am slowing down.

Here for a good time not a long time!!

If you are running Windows, then yes.

Tim, Thanks for that. Is there a cure or do I have to hunt down a replacement during Black Friday, which now seems to be a two week one day sale. My current one is using Windows 10.1.

The best long term cure is to buy a Mac. I resisted for years and finally gave in 5 years ago. I have never had a lap top last so long as the MacBook Air I bought then. They cost a lot more but last a lot longer.

You can tune up a flagging Window install, but it takes a fair amount of technical knowledge to avoid screwing things up. If your laptop is older than a couple of years then it's often easier just to buy a new one. If you want to get a more durable solution, consider switching to Apple kit. Their Unix-based operating system is a much better prospect in my view.

I`m on windows - but it is so old the glass has "bulls eyes" in it. Would it be more efficient if I installed double glazing?

Alistair will be along soon he is the Man on Computers, he advised me to have an SSD Card fitted to my Laptop, it cost me £80 including fitting and the thing flies now. The SSD Card is i believe a Microchip that replaces the older type "C" Drive disc.

Chaps, Thank you for your input. I'm afraid that most of what you say is like a giraffe fart ( it goes over mu head ) so I will take the easy way out and throw some money at it and get a new lap top.
