Hi, I'm looking to change the oil sump on my 3.0 roadster, and can anybody tell me what the torque settings are for the sump bolts, and any hints to do the change
and do I silicone gasket sealant on the new gasket ???
Thanks in advance

The gasket is a solid rubber circular profile which sits inside a groove in the sump casting, so shouldn't need any sealer. There are some images on my Roadster sump thread.

Check the Mondeo or Jaguar S or X type for torque settings. At a guess...16 - 22 lbs ft.

Mal,
my Haynes manual for the Ford Mondeo states:-

Stage 1 7 Nm 5 lbf ft
Stage 2 14 Nm 10 lbf ft

The sump drain plug is torqued to 23 Nm or 17 lbf ft

When my sump got broken I bought a Mondeo one. Be warned that they are not the same as the Mondeo one has a flat gasket and not the one that sits in the groove. I ended up importing a Chinese sump from America with Lorne Goodman's help. This was a direct replacement for the one used by the Ford escape of that period.

I can't find any reference number for the sump but I was able to buy the gasket locally. The part number is FMU 4802294 bought from a Ford main dealer for £49.86 in 2010.

Hope this helps

Very simple job i did it to my 2010 3.0l roadster not long after i bought it, from memory there are 2 different bolt sizes in terms of length just note which ones go where as you remove them.

The US Escape sump is available on ebay with a bit of searching.

Thanks Dave, I`ve got the modified sump, but no gasket, just need gasket and torque settings, didn`t want to damage the new sump when fitting (always like to torque the bolts rather than just tighten them)
the sump has the groove in it
