Hello everybody
Bell and Colvill have my car captive while they sort out (under warranty) the rear fog light that had become waterlogged and rusted solid. It’s been there for a few days awaiting parts that finally proved to be unavailable from the factory. The unit is the one that screws into the cylindrical rubber mounting on a course thread formed into the light housing. I cannot imagine that Morgan commissioned this and guess that it is sourced from others - Landrover/BMC etc. - where could I find this part?

B&C have apparently used the bulb holder from another type of unit to fix the problem and assure me that I will not notice the difference, they still have the car and so I cannot inspect it. I am curious as to where this part is sourced for possible future issues. They have had the car for 5 days to fix this and fit a grub screw to the heater fan knob that had fallen off and disappeared. I’m not impressed with all this and, while I have some empathy regarding the hunt for parts, they have apparently fitted a new heater switch which was not the problem. Anyway, the fog light is my main concer and where I might get one.

Melvyn Rutters would be a good starting point.

Kevin, when you get your car back can you post a photo ? As lots of bits are interchangeable

There is a little known Co called Charlesworth & Sons Ltd, in the West Mids, who make several Mog specific injection moulded bits for MMC like the rear light pods for the 3W and I think the black tapered bases for the other lights

Kevin, once you have seen what is now fitted, get a copy of the "Carbuilders" catalogue, you may very well find it in there. www.carbuilder.co. or 01580 991309. Good luck.

Here for a good time not a long time!!

OK I have looked around quite a lot and eventually took a chance on the Lucas L691 unit. It is very similar, diameter correct and generally the same type of unit. The internals are different, better quality that the Morgan and the lens a different shape - also better quality. The mounting screws for the Lucas unit are too short and are captive in the bulb holder and so will need a connector bolt to lengthen them sufficiently to fit to the wings through the cylindrical mount.

For now I will keep the old unit, it is working, and consider if I might swap both the front ones for the better Lucas units.

Thanks again for all the help
Kevin
