How often do you suffer a puncture?

I see from the threads related to the spares and tools to carry in the 3 wheeler, that many have inner tubes for the front tires, Slime or other tire repair kit and a small 12V compressor… confused2

In decades driving I’ve had only two flat tires!

Is the 3 wheeler really so prone to punctures?

Same here but I carry a spare tube for the front, as they are an unusual size and no tyre dealer will have them in stock, and a couple of those cartridges for the rear which I have always found to work well. I don’t bother with a compressor, perhaps I should...
‘Carry a couple of those cartridges in the tintops too. If you have a puncture you can guarantee it’s dark, wet etc.
If all else fails it’s a trip home on the back of a recovery truck! I don’t think the M3W is susceptible to punctures but I suppose the chance is greater as one wheel is in the middle.

I had a flat front tyre after two days of hillclimb activities.
One inner tube got damaged by the bottoms of the wire spokes and the second tube had already marks from spokes.
After replacing both tubes I fitted rim bands inside the front wheels and never had a problem again

I recommended a compressor more for checking and topping up pressure when covering significant mileage on tour than for puncture repair. The best mitigator for punctures is OKO sealant.

Two. Likely due to spoke damage, repaired abroad - therefore not subject to root cause analysis wink
Keep 2 spare tubes and a foot pump smile as my battery is a Banner (annoyingly replaced by dealer as a Banner last Summer)...

Well, apparently punctures are not a day-to-day business with the 3 wheeler. I was scared! So I believe I'll buy one inner tube just in case (as Taffmog says they nor usual, so better have one onboard) and carry a Slime or similar puncture cartridge just in case.

Does a small car jack makes sense, cosidering that I'll not be repairing / replacing a tire on the side of the road?

Put Slime/OKO into your rear tyre now. If the rear is punctured, they may help but you will probably need a recovery service as a roadside fix is very difficult.

Have you ever tried getting the tire bead broken and used the spoons to just undo one side of the tire to allow you to replace a tube? Just as a test I bought some spoons, rim protectors and tried to do it when I was getting my front wheels powdercoated. What a pita. It would have taken many hands and maybe another set of spoons to do it. I gave up and took them to the local motorcycle shop to do it.

The older M3W were barrel backs and I believe for good reason. A spare tire on a luggage rack would be the easiest way to go.

As I posted the other day on another thread - have a look at autoseal or Bikeseal - same thing. Can be used with or without tubes & does not gunk up the tyres. Immediately repairs tyres as the puncture happens(if in the tread area) and is a permanent fix.Look it up in your browser. I add that I`m not on commission. MSCC members get discount.
