My wife thought it a good idea to get another dog to perk up our 12 1/2 year old as well as keep us on our toes.

So this little(?) fella joined us on new years eve, he is 10 weeks old here in the video link below.

His name is Hector as you can see Archie is relevantly tolerant towards him (even while encroaching on his most precious of items - his bone)

Anyone else made any crazy decisions?

Hector is adorable. Archie seems to have that look on his face that says:
“This youngster shows promise.”

Great vid. Tried posting reply but rejected my reply and can’t be bothered to retype it all again. Gggggrrrrrrr. Still hate technology.
But it’s a lovely vid

We got a black lab r4 months ago and our 2 Spaniels (ages 16&14) are rejuvenated. Lab now plays with the younger spaniel while elder one tries to keep order! It’s a major time-waster watching them. Labrador is now firmly Daddies treasure!!!

Yes. With both of us in our early 70s we decided we were too sedentary and should get a pup. The mistake we made is that the pup is a poodle / springer cross where as far as I can see the poodle has contributed nothing but the wool.

The level of energy that Max has is unbelievable. Our level of control is marginal. On our dog walks where the other locals walk their dogs I have never seen another dog that comes anywhere close to Max's ability to just run and keep running. To jump into the river and to come back covered in mud.

I might be getting more exercise but the result is plantar fasciitis which is b painful and long lasting. Old body and young dog dont mix. The sensible step would be to rehome him but no chance now.

I hope it isn't long-lasting Howard, as it does respond to management.

Mine was a result of running on a treadmill set at too high an incline, whilst wearing the wrong profile of running shoes for my foot strike pattern.

If you can find a good sports physio, they will help you modify the contributors (footwear choice, type of ground you are walking on) and give you some stretching and flexing exercises for your feet. It's not an inevitability of age!

Good luck!

The great laugh with ours last year was when we had snow in the field behind. Cautious for all of 10 secs than he was like a spring lamb. Like yours he has a long wooly coat so by the time we got him back inside he had ice balls up to an inch diameter hanging off him all over. Had to bung him in a warm shower to get them off.

P.S How do you manage with the dog in a Morgan?

Don't have the not anymore (or the gt86 for that matter) went boring and listened to my dodgy back and now have XC60, that said did take Archie in the smart Roady a few times with the roof off and windows down, no cabin left for me almost as he was in full coat!
