Looks like I`m off the road for a while. Coming back from Kedleston yesterday noticed a car at the side of the road on a steep hill - abandoned but hazards flashing. As I got near to it I was suddenly a passenger and the car`s back end stepped out and I smacked into the side of the stopped car. I got out of the Mog and slid down the hill on my feet. AA van came to recover said other car and he slid down the hill out of control - narrowly missing us. On a 4 mile stretch of road there was one icy patch about 100 yards long and one car - by sod`s law I hit them both and now have a smacked in wing. The AA man pulled it away from the tyre and I limped to a garden centre about 400 yards away and was recovered home by the RAC Very large dent in the wing - will need replacing and an even larger dent in my pride - first insurance claim (apart from windscreens) in over 20 years. Looking on the bright side nobody was hurt and the insurance and RAC people were extremely helpful and supportive.oops.
Incidentally I got my motorsport UK clubman`s licence today - free of charge and needed to enter or be a passenger in any low-level competitions. I nice pack with lanyard, go-faster sticker and a licence card & holder. Also lots of very good benefits and discounts. Worth checking out and needed even if you are only entering "fun" competitions. No licence - no entry - useful to get one just in case.

Bad luck Phil. I finished up on my arse the other day. I was on foot and coming into a shop's exterior car park on a very slight down ramp and did not see that there was a coating of ice on a white painted line (the "Stop" line). Naturally I put my foot right there swear The next thing I knew I had swmbo and the dog fussing over me. Fortunately nothing worse than a bruised pride but it is always a worry for someone who has had a hip replacement. In the future I will be a lot more careful stepping onto a white line.

I hope the damage turns out to be only the wing. Hopefully a fairly easy fix.

Sad to learn this Phil. Hope the Mog is soon restored back to pristine condition.

My Clubman’s licence came last week. All set. Just need to sort dates for the DonMog Autotest and Car Trial now.

Hope it gets sorted and you can enjoy some better weather days. I fear we haven't seen the worst of the ice and snow yet..

Phil
The most important thing is you are ok. The MOG can be repaired.

Glad you are in one piece and wish you a hassle free insurance experience, hopefully they will have you back on the road by Easter.
