Louwman's demo car and it happened a few hundred metres from the dealer.

From the article the driver was trapped but released and "rushed" to hospital. Hopefully they are OK.

Interesting he was trapped. There looks like very little distortion of the central tub of the car although I guess the door might have jammed with its new fangled locks. The old ones would probably pop open! Don’t want to be a voyeur but there seems to be something like blood on the wing by the door 😟.

The steering wheel looks very like the ones used by Morgan for the airbag option even though one wasn’t fitted.

If not used to an auto and panicked the driver could have gone on the gas pedal instead of the brake. A learner did that on test near to me and shot through an industrial unit wall & cladding in reverse. Before anyone asks they failed their test sherlock

I have often thought that the job of a salesman of high powered cars should carry a health warning. I certainly wouldn't want to jump in besides a stranger driving a powerful car, not his own and with who know what experience. It's only amazing that there aren't more demo drive accidents.

Perhaps this is the first +6 to be involved in a serious accident. Those bonded ally. chassis aren't known to be easy to repair..............

I worked for a company in Sydney that had a group of trainers that used small auto company cars. We had several crashes where the girls pushed both brake and accelerator to the floor when they were in a panic stop situation. It shows just how incorrect the habit of left foot braking with an automatic is.

Have a look at the steering wheel. The driver hits it very heavy.

A few years ago one of my friends had an accident with an old Mini. He also hits the steering, leave the car by himself and goes around. The police and the ambulance told him to visit the hospital his luck - he had massive internal insuries, but don't realise it in cause of his shock.

Best wishes to the driver.

The steering wheel looks as if it is the same as the one fitted to Tarka and on my car it has an airbag. There is also a passenger Airbag.
I find it odd that MMC didn't offer airbags, if only as a "delete option" for the brave or foolish.
I hope it isn't because they didn't want to pay to have a new Airbag installation homologated.
If the CX series doesn't have an airbag option my idea of buying a 2022 Plus Four has suddenly gone out of the window.

For me, ABS and Airbags are the two "must have" safety features for any new car.
