It must be approaching a year since the PlusSix release. Currently 10 are for sale on the Morgan website. We have had much discussion on the new model, the pro's and con's extensively debated. Learned members have given free advice to Morgan regarding future model direction, engine size, specification and price. But unless I am mistaken there is not one owner comment. Where is the 'Have you driven your Morgan today' thread? Are the cars only selling to collectors, any Talk Morgan member would be unable to contain themselves!

I am confused........I thought no Morgan had a wooden chassis, that it is only the frame that's wooden.

No it’s wooden except during the last war when there was a shortage, and it was made of rubber

No it’s wooden except during the last war when there was a shortage, and it was made of rubber That would have made it a very bouncy ride...............ha ha The story about a wooden chassis is a result, I was told, of confusion caused by the word the Brits and the Americans use to describe bits of a car. We say chassis, they say frame. A Morgan has a wooden coach built body with a wooden frame. Wooden frame (UK) = Wooden Chassis (USA)...... And so the legend grows....

Just to drag us back onto the OP's initial question We have at least 2 owners on TM that have commented very favourably, the comments are among the farcical amount of threads that were generated at the CX launch time, so will take a bit of finding. It was encouraging reading after lots of the dismissive reports other "experts" had written and I wish them many happy safe miles.

I was assuming their recent silence was a sign of satisfaction--but you never know. It seems to be the Demo's that are getting munched by the inexperienced jockeys

Yes - you have to pay extra for the “Plus Six” wheels!

Yes - you have to pay extra for the “Plus Six” wheels! Is that + 4 for the car + 2 spares?

Lotus cars with that sort of damage are ofte written off as unrepairable in reality because you cannot pull a glued ally stucture straight in the way you can a steel one. Has the plus 6 got a sacrificial front and rear frame? I believe the Evora has at the front but not the rear. So the car has been bought from the insurance company as a write off described as repairable but I wonder if it is.

There are no repair methods for a "bonded and riveted chassis".
IF the chassis on that car is damaged the only repair is a new one.....

I was talking to Henry at Williams about this today. It was spun, on the way home from the supplying dealer. The early arrival of a massive amount of torque catches people out, and once the back end has gone that is it. As with the NL car, a low mileage on green tyres summer and a cold wet road, plus the arrival of all the torque at low revs played their part. As much the driver as the car, but for those used to computer managed traction and stability aids the Plus Six will bite..hard. Winter tyres and possibly a better suspension set up would help, but driver training/awareness are key.

What confusies me is that I found the power delivery rather linear when I test drove the Plus Six. Of course, I did not give it A full throttle at once, but did test its power a few times. Road was wettish then. Not once did I get the feeling the car would loose traction or that increase of power or torque were in any way ‘sudden‘. But maybe I was just lucky...

Maybe you depressed the throttle smoothly rather than stamping on it. But there may be other explanations for these accidents. Impossible to know just yet. Possibly it's one of those statistical blips, possibly it's something for the MMC to worry about.

According to "Lotus Evora - sublime Supercar" by Johnny Tipler, both ends Howard If it was a Berrybrook customer, Neville mentioned it to a couple of us at the factory a week or so back.

It would be interesting to know if the unhappy drivers had a Morgan before, even if it was just a 4/4 or Plus 4. I would guess that the drivers who had a Mog in the past perhaps have more respect than drivers who are completely new in this world. What I want to say is that it is not only the huge amount of power of the Plus Six but also to learn how such a light weight car behaves.

I know one of the boys on here came from a background of an Aero +8 so will be well versed in a loose back end, I can't recall what the other Plus Six owner came from but I know it was a 4 wheeled Morgan certainly both owners expressed delight in the new model .
