Why such a real shortage of parts for our beloved Morgan’s in eBay??

Is it because most Morgan owners are so old they can’t use a computer?

Never known it to be like this for any other car brand parts

Hmmm. More like Morgan owners suffer from hoarding disorders and will rarely let go of any spare parts, new, used ,scrap or otherwise.

Could it because, dare I say it, in the motor factor world it's a bit of a mongrel? An eclectic mix of Ford, Mazda, Landrover, BMW, etc with Morgan purely confined to the chassis, tub and body shell.

I think it's because not much wears out, and not much is universal fitting.

Plus the fact that the DIY owner is diminishing rapidly.

I think dealers hoard spare parts. I know that BHM have a rack of used hoods and tonneau covers which are available, but must be test fitted first, obviously.

If I were younger I would love to break bent Morgans and have a warehouse full of stuff, but then again, bonnets and doors won't fit easily, and so on...…..

So the mechanical stuff would sell OK, but maybe not much else.

If you know the generic part numbers there is quite a lot of electrical stuff available on eBay although it may not have direct Morgan reference. Lights for example, even rare stuff like the ARV6 headlamps available from LR distributor PowerfulUK. Given many Morgan parts are sourced from Land Rover there is another handy supply if you know what to look for.

60's era cars are particularly well catered for sharing electrical equipment and instruments with contemporary vehicles particularly anything Lucas. Round Smith's heaters are another.

Anyone any idea where I might get some old rear brake pistons. Thinking of getting the pistons replaced with stainless.

I guess it depends how many miles you do. I have loads of parts on the +8 wear out. I don't think there is much left that's original. Virtually everything in the engine bay/mechanical has been replaced. In the cockpit the steering wheel, seat frames, rev counter and a couple of other dials are original. But then the car has done over 250k miles.
I have sourced electrical parts: dials and switches on ebay.

As mentioned above, I try and find out the orignal part number and then do an eBay search - have found wheel bearings (at a fraction of the cost), some brake parts, most engine bits and loads of electrical/lighting stuff.

Have only really struggled on specific Morgan parts like seat runners, rubber bits etc!

Reason I raised it is because I have some mint bumpers which are a lot of money new.

Thought I’d have a look and see what else is on the to compare. With virtually no Morgan items on there I guess Morganeers will never look on there

Yeah, I've looked for bumpers on eBay with no success.

If they are for a 1970's 4/4, I think it's because they are worthless. I'll do you a favour and take them off your hands for a tenner each wink smile
