I never know what it is that makes a good picture good, but that’s very good, well done.

Stunning. My Dad always said the Pacific class locks the yanks sent over in the war were sods to fire.

Nice one Richard.
There was a bit about it on last night's programme about the NYMR (and its troublesome air pump). Owner lives in Gloucestershire according to the programme.

Rich, A BIG "WOW" Fantastic picture of a beautiful engine. I was thinking when I saw it that Graham had possibly just wet himself.

Here for a good time not a long time!!

Stunning photo, it is all about the lighting, illuminating Omaha and the clouds.

2253 was built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in America in 1943 and shipped to Britain aboard the Norfolk which arrived in Hull in May 1943.

It worked on the LNER from its base at Neville Hill depot at Leeds.
Following being returned to USATC stock it was shipped to France in September 1944.
Following the end of the Second World War 2253 was bought Polish State Railway and became TR203-288

It was brought to Britain from Poland in 1992 following a major overhaul, running on the NYMR for the next 10 years.
After being cosmetically restored on the NYMR it was loaned to the National Railway Museum and put on static display at Locomotion Shildon as part of a Second World War display.

The locomotive took part in the 2019 Annual Steam Gala before heading to its new home at the Dartmouth Steam Railway.
So it looks as if it is staying "down south", great news! There is nothing like a big, brash Yank!!

Yes it also spent a lot of time in Italy during the Hitler withdrawal period.

As many of the troops (mostly from USA) left Dartmouth for Omaha beach it was hoped she would be operational down here for the 75th Anniversary last year but sadly this was not to be, but she's here now.

John, I wonder if your Dad ever worked on her ?
