Well perhaps not smile but it does have a 911 engine scared

Belongs to an American friend. He also owns a 912 and a heap of motocycle.

You get a glimpse of it in this "story" he did for Birkenstock (his wife is German by the way, he met her whilst in the military and posted in Germany).

Peter, as a car enthusiast I expected you to know that 911`s have six cylinder engines, whereas air cooled VW`s have only four cylinders.... Though you were close to being correct when you mentioned your friend had a 912, which does indeed have a four cylinder engine, with a slightly different spec.. (-:

My first Porsche was a 912, it was an old rot box, I spent more time welding it than driving it, though I did enjoy driving it in the 80`s.. (-:

It's perfectly possible to bung a 911 lump into a VW microbus, I have seen it done several times. A guy I know has done it to his, but as he has also slammed the suspension I'm by no means certain he's capable of using the extra power. Sounds great, though.

Little Cockney chef used to own one - I remember it coming up for sale a few years back if memory serves me well.

Yup quite a few VW`s have used 911 engines and wheels which seems a tad OTT more so for a van... shrug.

John V6 I`ve also heard that Morgans have a wooden chassis... rofl
