Just to let you know,

I bumped into Keith from BHM yesterday whilst getting this week's rations, he told me that they need to stay open with a skeleton staff to keep afloat.

If we need their services they will make arrangements to get the car to them.

They need our support at this difficult time. englandwave

Why is there only one monopolies commission??

I suspect there are many in the same boat.
It would be a real shame if such an excellent dealer closed permanently.

I can't see why an established dealer would not make use of the government Furlough scheme, even if just for a few weeks

Because currently there is no way to access it, and the funds aren’t available yet...

It’s scary tough for all of us in the Morgan trade right now because it’s so niche
Our livelihoods have been kicked out from under us

All my end of months bills have just come in and I’m not sure how I’m going to pay them with what I’ve been able to earn this month

I see a lot of firms going under before the government help actually arrives

A good time for us to buy some stuff online from those Morgan specialists who have an internet shop in addition to their services offering. It may only be low revenue but the cashflow might help sustain this invaluable pool of expertise.

This is a desperately sad situation for a lot of businesses. I am a sole trader, because I haven't been trading for a full year I have no figures for HMRC, therefore I get nothing. I was made redundant late 2018, I used my redundancy cash along with savings to start the business, this took a full year, all I received during this time was some weeks of job seekers allowance then around £60 a week from the new enterprise allowance scheme for 3 months. Meanwhile a sole trader with a few good years trading behind him will get a percentage of their past profit.

I would love to spend money to keep another business going but it's simply not available. The first casualty will I'm afraid have to be my Morgan.

And those of us that don’t have a webshop too please!

Really tough time for all self employed and small business people ..... I know that their creditors also have to survive, but you would have thought their landlords etc must be thinking that after this is over a lot of the less well founded businesses will be gone and I will still need to rent my business unit into what has become a shrinking market .... so wouldn't it make sense to help ensure the survival of my current reliable tenant for my own benefit if nothing else .... one would hope it would be seen as good business sense to be as flexible as possible rather than being hard headed about bills in the short term and damaging yourself in the long ?

Or am I being hopelessly unrealistic ?

I would put the unrealistic label on the fools making that selfish decision. Along with foolish.

As per Simon's comment, also worth calling or emailing those specialists who do not have online shops to enquire for anything you might need / want. As well as Mog specific stuff, they may be happy to reduce their inventory of generic parts and consumables that you might otherwise have bought from the large companies.
