I've just got off the phone chatting with a mate who lives in France, apparently the wearing of masks when outside is going to be mandatory. Apparently there was a bit of a scandal recently, a plane load of masks from China arrived at an airport, and before they could be unloaded an American offered to pay over the odds so the whole lot was flown away to the US, disregarding the original deal.

Not surprising. It happened to Spain twice already. With masks and with breathers. The manufacturers, Chinese in particular, have no scruples to cancel your deal if they have a higher offer.

Nothing new. The Chinese have always been like this in business. I know firsthand. What's shocking for us is that this is happening during a health crisis and with critical equipment.

This has nothing to do with racism at all, but I have avoided working with Chinese for years because of this kind of thing. They have values very different from ours. Here in Spain the word and a handshake used to be sacred, and still is for many. So imagine the frustration when these things happen to you ...

A prime example of Tronald Drump's business morals perhaps?

I find it interesting to see such massive change in such a short period. Many years ago China considered trade to be considered over a period of generations and they played the long game. The cut throat change to complete consumerism has been more like a snap.

Just time to burn a little more petrol before dinner.

I heard on the news yesterday that the UK has orderer thousands of respirators from China.

I hope they don't use the same postal system as Ebay !!!!!

The pandemic will be over before we see them. snail

Spain bought to China thousands of respirators. And the Chinese company, curiuous but true, assemble those in Turkey. Turkey decided they will keep all the production for themselves. So our government paid for respirators that are used in Turkish hospitals and we'll never see during this crisis.

I really hope your UK government did not buy from the same Chinese company...
