Last year many of us met at the FossilMog beach picnic at the Hive Beach on Sunday June 30th.

This year it was scheduled for Sunday 28th June, but as with all MSCC events, was cancelled.

As the lockdown unwinds I think it is realistic to consider attending in some way, if only informally and correctly distanced.
The Carpark is National Trust and according to their website the car park re-opened on 21st May.

Thoughts, anyone?

Peter

Peter: Have you spoken to either Graham Keen or Richard Lomax?
As Richard lives close to Hive Beach, he will know the local situation.

Sadly too far to go there & back in a day.

I suspect the fuzz might get twitchy if lots of Mogs turn up, but if you are socailly distanced & meet the rules then why not? I think you also need to consider how MSCC might react to this, as I am on the FolkMog committee I couldn't possibly comment.

Here in Suffolk I now see bunches of bikers at the seaside.

Maybe you should email Mr Cummings for help as he is an expert

It’s my understanding that there will only be a limited amount of hard standing parking open by the N.T. The field that we usually use is not planned to be open. The other issue is lack of toilets, which in this case are attached to the cafe, and almost certainly be closed.
As suggested earlier, strongly think we should leave it to Graham and Richard to take the lead on this. We may not set a good example by all turning up in Morgans and causing congestion.

I e-mailed Graham....
When I get a response, I'll share it.

As to toilets, if the beach cafe is doing a take away menu, which is allowed, it is probable that the toilets would be open.
Certainly at most of the beaches in Dorset the take away stalls are open and the toilets also.

The council toilets on the beach at Felixstowe seem to be open but my preference is to avoid the risk. I hope it works out Peter.
The whole lockdown is becoming a joke really , so I don't see why friends can't meet at a social distance.
